For the $50 spent - this has been a strong unit. It has withstood and survived spills (drops), spills (kicks) and spills (the fluid kind), with nary a missing key. Within its bullet-proof exterior (that's not been tested....), they appear to have in fact encased the ir transmitter. Although its sensory range in feet is rather substantial, the ir sensor must at times be stretched to it's 12' length to allow for placement in Direct Eyesight of ANY potential position of the keyboard.
