The Microsoft LifeCam VX-6000 offers unique features such as the ability to post photos directly to a blog, but its video effects and image quality don't stand up to that of competing Webcams from veteran manufacturers.

This is a reasonably priced webcam with some nice features, including face-tracking, but we wish the built-in mic worked better.

I'm not sure why Microsoft didn't just carry over the quality of the Microsoft NX-6000 to the VX-6000, and for that reason, we'd have to recommend you hold off on this camera. After all, why not pay the same price and buy the notebook version, which offers superior video quality?

The Microsoft LifeCam VX-6000 is a mid-range webcam that suffers from the same pitfalls as most mid-range cameras on the market. When the lighting is anything but optimal, the image quality suffers greatly.
