It may be derided as one of the ugliest products ever made, but it's also one of the most functional (and we think it looks pretty awesome, too). The Mad Catz Cyborg R.A.T. 7 is an endlessly customizable gaming mouse — it even comes with its own Allen wrench so you can take it apart and reassemble it at will. You can adjust the hardware for a perfect fit, and then tweak the software so that each button responds precisely to your touch. You can even adjust the precision of its laser sensor based on your needs — and how quick on the trigger you are.

Everything about this mouse looks bold, but happily all of the bells and whistles are there for a reason. The original preview of the R.A.T. from CES evoked a strong reaction from you guys, and trust us when we say the final product lives up to the chest-beating promise of its design.

This is a bad-ass mouse. The $100 price tag puts the R.A.T. at the higher end of the gaming mouse spectrum, but you're not going to find a mouse that's more feature-packed or customizable than this.

In terms of performance, the R.A.T. 7 is top notch – it's extremely responsive and works well on just about any surface. Button depressions are detected without error, and aside from a few minor ergonomic qualms, we'd say that the R.A.T. 7 is one of the better gaming mice we've used.

It's solid, responsive and has got more buttons than your finger-tips could possibly cope with. The only real downside is that freaky-ass robot rat on the box art.

If you want a great mouse spawned by GLaDOS, then the Albino Edition might be worth the £85 to you. For anyone with a standard R.A.T feeling a twinge of jealousy though, remember you can pick up Tipp-Ex for a quid.

The RAT is awesome and I would love to own another one, but the laser burned out within a few months of use. I read other complaints about the laser not lasting. Too bad as it was a super configurable gaming mouse:(

The only thing I'd like improved with this mouse would be the inclusion of an encompassing case that holds all of the little extras AND the mouse itself. Other than that, it's a great toy and a great mouse.
