Conclusion: We like it

It may be derided as one of the ugliest products ever made, but it's also one of the most functional (and we think it looks pretty awesome, too). The Mad Catz Cyborg R.A.T. 7 is an endlessly customizable gaming mouse — it even comes with its own Allen wrench so you can take it apart and reassemble it at will. You can adjust the hardware for a perfect fit, and then tweak the software so that each button responds precisely to your touch. You can even adjust the precision of its laser sensor based on your needs — and how quick on the trigger you are.

Everything about this mouse looks bold, but happily all of the bells and whistles are there for a reason. The original preview of the R.A.T. from CES evoked a strong reaction from you guys, and trust us when we say the final product lives up to the chest-beating promise of its design.

The MadCatz Cyborg RAT 7 Albino is a full-featured, physically tweakable gaming mouse that you can alter to your exact preference.

This is a bad-ass mouse. The $100 price tag puts the R.A.T. at the higher end of the gaming mouse spectrum, but you're not going to find a mouse that's more feature-packed or customizable than this.

In terms of performance, the R.A.T. 7 is top notch – it's extremely responsive and works well on just about any surface. Button depressions are detected without error, and aside from a few minor ergonomic qualms, we'd say that the R.A.T. 7 is one of the better gaming mice we've used.

It's solid, responsive and has got more buttons than your finger-tips could possibly cope with. The only real downside is that freaky-ass robot rat on the box art.

If you want a great mouse spawned by GLaDOS, then the Albino Edition might be worth the £85 to you. For anyone with a standard R.A.T feeling a twinge of jealousy though, remember you can pick up Tipp-Ex for a quid.

Mad Catz really has created a monster with their R.A.T. 7 gaming mouse. Its combination of custom fit coupled with a bevy of software and hardware features really does make extended gaming sessions even more enjoyable.

When this mouse was announced at CES a few years back, I was excited to see how much effort that was put into the design and customization options with this mouse. While mouse mice stick to a relatively static design, this mouse features loads of customization options. From the various grips,...

The RAT is awesome and I would love to own another one, but the laser burned out within a few months of use. I read other complaints about the laser not lasting. Too bad as it was a super configurable gaming mouse:(

The only thing I'd like improved with this mouse would be the inclusion of an encompassing case that holds all of the little extras AND the mouse itself. Other than that, it's a great toy and a great mouse.

At first I was very excited about the mouse. Setting up all of the customizable parts and buttons was a treat. But after a week of use, I noticed the sensor would randomly skip on me. I was playing League of Legends and had skip issues every 30-45 minutes. It would randomly jump and get stuck for...

The adjustability works as advertised. I have large hands with very long fingers, and this is the first mouse I've been able to make fit my hand. The mouse seems very solidly built, and all the interchangeable parts are well made. The braided cable is also a nice touch. The ability to adjust DPI...

Expensive yes, but an awesome mouse. Only real complain is the buttons are really pensive, which is good for gaming, but not so much other things. When I first wake up (a little sleepy) and browse the web sometimes I will accidentally right click. Also still trying to hone in on some good dpi...

The mouse itself is a very comfortable to hold mouse and doesn't stress your hand while holding it or for using for extended periods of time. As I spend a lot of my time PC gaming, having a comfortable mouse is key to me. This mouse deals with that perfectly. Straying from the regular design...

I love this mouse. The versatility and accuracy are easily its strong suits. The only thing I might have dinged it for is lack of instructions, but obviously since you are reading this you are more than capable of navigating the tubes and like me you could find further info. As a Mac user it...
