If you're looking for something that closely matches the Jambox in portability and sound, but costs substantially less, the $100 Logitech UE Mobile Boombox is the device I'd recommend.

I can vouch for the Logitech UE Mobile Boombox as a solid speaker with good sound that gives the more expensive Jambox a run for the money.

You might find louder and sharper Bluetooth speakers than the Logitech UE Mobile Boombox, but you won't find a better all-around package close to its price.

You don’t get a lot of details, especially with messy and difficult to render tracks. But if you really need to listen to music with a speaker in those situations, the Mobile Boombox is a good versatile choice.

The rechargeable battery lasts 10 hours, and it was easy to not only pair lots of devices ... but also connect two devices at once and take turns playing. Unfortunately, it couldn’t get as loud as the other two speakers we tested, and the sound quality was just OK.

Overall, I'm really impressed with the Mobile Boombox, especially after having used Logitech's Z515 speaker (which doesn't sound nearly as good and is twice the size). I would easily recommend this over the Jawbone Jambox - it really lives up to the Ultimate Ears name.

The Mobile Boombox does sound way better than any built-in speaker in smartphones and tablets, so it does have added value for mobile devices. That said, £79.95 is just too much for this product. There are more expensive models with similar specs, but they sound much better. Cheaper alternatives...

As much as we like the gummy design and the way it performs, the Mobile Boombox is potentially a risky $100 investment and that's a shame because we thought this would otherwise be a nifty little Bluetooth speaker.
