Yesterday, I noticed that a new Android system update was released for the Revue. The update actually improved the Chrome browser speed significantly and largely reduce the amount of audio glitches. Good to see Google still committed to improving a device that has been abandoned by Logitech.

Just got the Honeycomb upgrade to my Logitech Revue. Questions?
Got the update to my Revue the other night and so far it's alright. Nothing totally amazing aside from just a general UI upgrade and access to the market. The market access is quite odd because there's a ton of apps on there that obviously won't work with Google TV like a CarrierIQ detector.
Anyone want to know anything about the upgrade?

Logitech discontinuing its Google TV line of products
I'm not sure how this effects any future Google TV updates beyond the soon to be released 3.1 update.

Would love for my Google TV to act as some sort of Slingbox.
I mean, my TiVo is already hooked directly into it and it's got an internet connection, let me control the beast while I'm not at home. That would be awesome.

Quick impressions of the Logitech Revue:
We just received a unit here at the gdgt offices and have been playing with it for the last 30 minutes or so. So far, it's left a lot to be desired. The setup process itself is pretty horrid -- despite being plugged in with an HDMI cable, you still need to manually calibrate the screen size of the device using arrow keys and a box on the screen. Once this is done, it asks for the make of your television and then requires you to type in your model number as well (what?). After you go through...

Is there an HDMI passthrough?
For those of us with ancient TVs that only have one HDMI input, I can plug my Uverse box into the Revue, and the Revue into the TV

No one here answered my previous question in regards to the Revue but I preordered it upon reading that changing a browser setting allows you access to Hulu.
My only question does it scrape your files for image art and synopses like boxee? I've been trying to read up on both of these cause these two (boxee, revue) seem to best fit my needs for personal media and online media. The revue is more expensive but it comes with more hardware and I feel more comfortable with goggles ecosystem coming through with the apps. Boxee... There are too many unanswered questions too close to launch. Not good for a product from a company with no real track record...

will i be able to plug in a portable hdd to the usb port and see my movies? how will that work? will it suppport mkv?
i have a wdtv live+, wouldn't mind buying this and putting the wdtv in the kids room. i'm torn between this and the boxee box.

$300? Holy crap that's expensive for an segment where we now have several options under $100.
I can't see it reaching any kind of mass audience until it comes down to the $100 (maybe $150) mark. IMO that's expensive enough that even the tech crowd is going to think twice. I mean, Google TV or a 360/PS3? Heck you could buy a 360 Arcade or Wii AND a Roku/Apple TV for that!

I'm not impressed with the form factor.
I think Logitech should have come out with a more innovative remote than what is essentially a wireless keyboard and track pad with shortcuts for Google TV functions. How is it that Boxee has a more innovative remote than a company that makes programmable, multifunction remotes? If more content is headed to internet streaming or apps, what's the point of integration with you digital set top box? Cable companies will soon be clamping down on internet bandwidth because of people cancelling...

I have to admit... zero interest in buying another box just for the functionality. That said, I will be switching to Dish Network from DirecTV.
Their 922 DVR with Sling capability is light years ahead of the sorry excuse for a DVR that DirecTV offers. There's enough functionality in what I've already seen in Google TV to warrant the change. Now if they will just add Rdio to their app list, I'll be a happy man.

It has Android, so it's going to have apps. That means the possibilities are virtually endless.
This might actually lead to true a la carte cable via apps for each show/network.

The Logitech Revue / Google TV press conference is happening right now.
What do you think of it so far?
One of the things that interests me most about Google TV is the ability to have access to the full internet from the TV.
This would make an excellent gift for my parents, aunt and uncles as it should give them access to Gmail/Email and Facebook, in addition to video content. However, rumored prices have it at $300, which would be a major disincentive. DVR capabilities is not a major concern for me. For me, Web Browsing is make or break. Do Roku players, or Apple TV have web browsing abilities/access to the FULL internet?

I think this looks great. I'm a long time Linux geek and have tried MythTV on and off over the years.
Its about time a serious attempt is made at unifying broadcast television with cable networks and content from the Internet. As good of a job PlayOn does at delivering Internet content through consumer devices, there is no single place to go to watch your DVRed shows, YouTube videos, video podcast subscriptions, as well as Internet content such as Hulu, Fancast, CBS/ABC and others. Not that I'm expecting all of these providers to be present and accounted for on day 1, but I would like to at...

The Logitech promo videos for the Revue are crazy ridiculous!
Here's the latest (and most bizarre / craziest) video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niUVo2NWVHE Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8662nxojB4 Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u81sotU2TKY Part 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niUVo2NWVHE You don't have to watch them in order. But I might try to watch them while playing Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon... Hah, it's a serious case of WTF. As Michael Gartenberg tweeted earlier today, "with marketing like...
