Detailed review
I was always a skeptic of "universal" remote controls. They were always lacking one or two key buttons that forced me to keep the original remotes around. The Harmony One is different though. It supports all of the functions of your original remote via its color touchscreen. The most commonly used buttons are hard buttons on the remote, while specialized buttons go to the touchscreen. But, the real secret to the Harmony One is the activity-based control of devices. I no longer have to remember that to watch a DVD, I need to power up the TV, DVD player, surround receiver, then select HDMI 2 on my TV, and DVD on my receiver. Now, all I do is hit "Watch DVD" and the remote handles all of those functions automatically. And, the computer software allows tinkerers like me to perfectly customize the buttons how I want them, setup macros, control power-on sequencing, etc. Easy to use and incredibly flexible. This is how all technology should work!
