Conclusion: We like it

The Harmony 650 does most of what the Harmony 700 — a gdgt Must Have — does, for about $20 less. What do you lose to get the discount? Mainly, the 700's rechargeable battery; this one requires AAs. It also controls just five devices, compared with the 700's six. Like the 700, it's programmable via a database of over 200k products. If you don't mind swapping batteries, and want to save $20, you won't be disappointed with the 650, though we think that's a modest price to pay for easy USB charging, and the ability to control one more device.

There's not much to dislike about the 650. It offers most of the features of the higher-end Harmony models but at a more approachable price. The only thing we really don't like is the curious five device cap.

The Logitech Harmony 650 is one of the best universal remotes you can buy for less than $100.

...we have no problem recommending the Logitech Harmony 650 — it's a great universal remote that's being sold at a very competitive price.

The Logitech Harmony 650's five-device limit seems stingy, but great ergonomics and high-quality build maintain the standards of this illustrious series. Just prepare for a couple of painful setup hours before the bliss of a one-remote home setup becomes a reality.

It’s hard to hate the Harmony. It’s even harder to hate the Harmony for under $100...at that price, the 650 still has the functionality of pricier controllers, but it’s limited to only five devices. For many, that’s just about right—or at least a nice way to ditch five random remotes.

The Harmony 650 is a huge disappointment for me because of two reasons. One, the remote will lose it's state at least once per day. If its in "watch TV" mode, it will often will not keep that state and revert to "all off" mode. Then I need to hit "watch tv" again while covering the IR emitter,...

The 650 is an excellent device that works well and is as good as advertised. I've had no issues with it so far and it is far more comfortable in the hand than the 410 I used before (maybe 420 can't recall). In short it's another great device Harmony device by Logitech. Once you switch over to one...

Five device limit is slightly annoying. After connecting the remote to my computer for programming it forgets the input setting of the TV and needs to be adjusted. Still one of the best remotes I have owned. Definitely lots of bang for your buck.

I bought this remote over the more expensive options because it had what I needed. Purchased the adapter for PS3 to allow it to work on all of my devices. Adding in custom buttons with the network logo is pretty cool, although time consuming to set up. Only had a few logos already in the...

The only thing I do not like about this remote is its really slow with my DirecTV DVR. There is clearly a speed difference when using this remote compared to the factory one. Over time, I think we'll stop using the Harmony remote.

Setup was not as easy as I would have liked, but you only have to do it once. The device works great with all my video components. Easy one button push to change between TV, DVR and radio tuner modes.
