A 4G LTE phone for $100 on contract? It's hard to argue with that. No matter how unattractive the design or antiquated the software experience, the Viper is a wise buy for frugal consumers and Sprint loyalists alike...The only question that remains is: Should you buy into what Sprint's not yet...

The LG Viper 4G LTE was the first phone available for Sprint's 4G LTE network, and has a good range of features for its $99 on-contract price, including a 5-megapixel camera, Google Wallet-compatibility, and a reasonably sharp 4-inch display. The catch: Sprint's LTE network won't be widely available until at least next year. If you're a Sprint customer, and you want to be able to use the carrier's LTE network as soon as it's available, you'll be better off with the company's other LTE phone: the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, which is available for $199 on-contract. If you're willing to settle for a phone that isn't "future proof," and upgrade later, Sprint offers a lot of other phones that work with its existing 4G WiMax network, including the Samsung Galaxy S Epic Touch 4G, which is available for free with a two-year contract from some sellers.
