The Optimus L9 isn't totally without merit. We appreciate its boxy yet dapper design and its sharp, colorful display. ... Yet, its mediocre camera reminds us of its entry-level status, the carrier's bloatware is a disappointment and LG's UI 3.0 belongs in the past.

Conclusion: We're mixed
The Optimus L9 is a midpriced phone for T-Mobile customers, with a decent 4.3-inch display, and a fairly basic 5-megapixel camera. It lacks access to the higher-speed portion of T-Mobile's 4G HSPA data network. At $79 with a two-year contract, it's one of the more affordable options available on T-Mobile, but if you can spend a little more, you're likely to find a better option.
