As much as we wanted to like the Optimus L7, we must strongly urge those who want an entry-level smartphone to look elsewhere.

The LG Optimus L7 is a sleek phone with basic, low-end functionality, including a slow processor, a 5-megapixel camera, and poor voice quality. While it does boast an updated version of Android (4.0), that only exacerbates its problems, as its processor clearly has trouble keeping up with the OS's demands. Sold in the U.S. only as an unlocked model for about $300, there are much better options out there if you want to go contract-free, including Samsung's Galaxy Nexus, which is available for as little as $350.

The LG Optimus L7's slow processor is ultimately a real deal killer for me. It's annoyingly slow and doesn't do the sleek device justice. Especially since the smartphone is running the latest Android OS and sports a modern design, having that extra lag time is a drag.
