Conclusion: We like it

The Optimus G Pro may pack a 5.5-inch display, but those who shy away from big phone screens because of the bulk they add will be pleased to know that "LG has done well to keep size and weight in check despite the large screen," according to GSM Arena, though Laptop Magazine still felt the phone "seemed quite large physically." But those who do prefer a larger screen will be happy that CNET calls it "bright and extremely responsive," and Ubergizmo says the "display is the crown jewel of the Optimus G Pro, and it does look as beautiful as you may imagine." Normally a large screen would cause power issues, but CNET says the Optimus G Pro has "solid battery life" and Engadget found the "G Pro got through 14 hours before it died." As for the camera, Ars Technica says "it's a fast camera and performs well in situations where there is plenty of natural light" but some photos may "require some editing before they’re fit to share." The Optimus G Pro's closest competitor is the Galaxy Note II, which features a stylus for writing, but that may not appeal to everyone. If you fancy a phone with a large display but don't need writing capabilities, then you should check out the Optimus G Pro.

With a higher-res screen, stronger performance and a solid design, the handset might be even more desirable than the Galaxy Note II ... the G Pro succeeds as a compelling device for anyone interested in getting a phone larger than five inches.

Though it lacks a stylus and it won't fit everyone's lifestyle, the LG Optimus G Pro's beautiful touch screen and ultrafast CPU do this handset justice.

Though it lacks a stylus, the Optimus G Pro is not only armed with high-end specs, but it's also still cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 -- making it the best AT&T phablet available now.

Still, the Optimus G Pro delivers a cohesive and compelling all-around experience that's a pleasure to use. Unless you absolutely need a native stylus -- something only the Galaxy Note II provides -- the Optimus G Pro is the best supersized smartphone you can buy today.

The LG Optimus G Pro would be the favorite in a job interview - it's got a great resume and it answered all the questions correctly. We wouldn't have minded a slightly more exciting design, but it still blows the Optimus Vu out of the water.

It brings superior display, processor, and performance to a market that has proven to have an appetite for all three. That makes the LG Optimus G Pro particularly attractive for this group of users.

The 5-inch-plus range isn't for everyone, and that's cool. But LG's done a pretty stand-up job with the Optimus G Pro. The hardware is solid. The Snapdragon 600 performs admirably, and the 32GB of storage is decent.

The LG Optimus G Pro is a full-blown, unabashedly powerful Android flagship, no matter how you look at it. LG has done an excellent job at packing a multitude of features beneath that gorgeous 5.5-inch display and, for the most part, managed to integrate them into a coherent whole.

The LG Optimus G Pro is a fantastic phone in almost every way. It’s too big for some users, but if you’re into heft, you should try out the G Pro before you go with the Note 2.

In all, it looks to be the same solid handset we spent some quality time with two months back. As a potential competitor to Samsung's Note II, it easily rises above in specs, in build quality and in subsidized pricing ($200 on a two-year contract).

The Optimus G Pro is faster than the Galaxy Note, with a better screen, and it's more comfortable in the hand. The key element it lacks is Samsung's S Pen: if you're buying a Note II for that pressure-sensitive pen function, you won't get that here.

Lastly, as a phablet, the Optimus G Pro lacks the stylus that made the Note 2 a unique device. Sure it has LG's memo apps, but the missing stylus is felt when you're actually trying to write or draw something.

While we're not fans of the phablet, there were moments during our demo where we understood the appeal. That huge screen is awesome for entertainment, the battery is massive and there's plenty of room for peppy hardware.
