Conclusion: We like it

Available for free from some sellers, the LG Lucid is a good entry-level smartphone that includes access to Verizon's high-speed 4G LTE data network. It has a sharp, bright display, a good camera, and decent battery life. While its 4-inch screen is small compared to those offered on many newer smartphones, it makes the phone lighter and more pocketable, and helps contribute to its good battery life. If you're looking for an inexpensive way to jump on Verizon's fast data network, the LG Lucid could be just the ticket — but be sure to shop around, since pricing varies by seller, and price-cutting has put some previously high-end phones at levels that could make you rethink what you're willing to spend.

It's tough to fault the Lucid purely on specs. For a budget-priced Android phone, it's quite impressive, and closer to what was called high-end just six months ago, even if it falls a bit flat with voice calls and LTE data speeds.

The LG Lucid may not be a high-profile flagship mobile device, but it's nicely built and its performance is sound. If it's going to be your first smartphone, it'll certainly spoil you from here on out. The processor is zippy, the network is the fastest available, and the camera is satisfactory.

LG has done a decent job here releasing a top-of-mid-range device for the masses, not quite overtaking what they’ve already got released on Verizon with the LG Spectrum, but certainly a fine phone for those with hands that aren’t goliath in size.

Frankly, it’s not the phone we think about as we’re lucidly dreaming at night, but rather, it’s just one of those handsets that has a balanced appeal to it. Factoring in its attractive body, high spec’d hardware, and oh-so affordable $80 price, it’s well rounded enough to attract the...

The Lucid may not have all the bells and whistles found on phones 2-3 times its price, but it does offer a fast 4G LTE connection, good battery life, solid build quality and an attractive upfront cost.
