So my parents are putting me on their family plan (I was on the plan on the other side of my family) and my step-sister is offering me her old enV2. She only used it for a couple of months, and I'm not sure if I should go with this phone or a different one from the store. Would it be worth it to pay money for a newer, better phone, or is this one for free, fine? Another free alternative is an LG Voyager.

I've noticed that it can be very difficult to hear calls clearly on this phone. The volume is plenty loud, but there isn't enough pitch variance. Words like "sorry" and "silly" are indistinguishable and sound like "Smm-e". In a quiet room I can usually make it out, but with any background noise the conversation is lost.
