Conclusion: Pass on it

A year ago, the Lenovo IdeaTab S2109 might have seemed like a good deal. It's a 9.7-inch Android tablet with reasonable performance; a good assortment of features, including a microSD slot, HDMI out, and a decent 1024x768 display; all for $350. But in today's tablet market, you can get a much better tablet, like the Asus Transformer Pad 300 for about $30 more, or the gdgt Must-have iPad 2 for about $50 more. At the low end, the smaller Asus Nexus 7 lacks the S2109's storage expansion and HDMI output, but has a better display, faster processor, and is just $200. Given those options, there's just no real reason to consider the S2109.

There's not one huge, glaring reason to stay away; no, it's the combination of a middling CPU, unimpressive battery life and design quirks such as an overzealous accelerometer and an awkwardly placed webcam. All that adds up to an experience that leaves us wanting more.

The Lenovo IdeaTab S2109A has an appealing price, but it can't compete with similarly priced tablets in overall value.

The Lenovo IdeaTab S2109 is an Android tablet with low-end specs, but a midrange price tag, making it a hard sell when compared with some less-expensive and better-equipped alternatives.

The mid-range at best specs, low resolution, lack of a rear camera, and occasional stutters makes it hard to justify. For the price you could do better, but if Lenovo drops her down to $299 this might be a slightly different story.

his thin, light, and attractive Android slate performs well and has superb four-speaker SRS sound. Considering its somewhat outdated dual-core processor and poor battery life, though, it's a bit overpriced.
