Conclusion: We like it

The IdeaPad Yoga is a fast, flexible Windows 8 laptop with a sharp, bright, responsive touchscreen display and good keyboard. In laptop mode, it works very well, and being able to use both a touchpad (or external mouse) and the touchscreen helps bridge the gap between Windows 8-style apps and desktop apps. In tablet mode, it's a little bulky and cumbersome, and the keyboard remains exposed, though Lenovo sells an optional cover to protect it. Because the display rotates 180 degrees on a sturdy hinge, you can also use it with the display facing outward, or in "tent mode," which is convenient for watching videos. If you're ready to take the plunge and embrace Windows 8, the Yoga is a good choice. And if you're not, and just want to use it as a laptop in "desktop" mode, it's also a good option.

Compared to the competition, then, this is still a good option. Left alone in its price class, it's an even stronger choice. Let's just hope Lenovo can quickly update that flaky trackpad. That's not too much to ask, right?

The Yoga is perhaps one of the most usable devices on the market. It has a great keyboard, trackpad, and touchscreen, and can be used in multiple positions.

The IdeaPad Yoga is an able contortionist, blurring the line between laptop and tablet, while enabling users to explore the full capabilities of Windows 8. The soft-touch design, comfortable keyboard and swift performance also impresss.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 is a solid ultrabook, but as a tablet, it's a little too big for comfort. Otherwise, the Yoga 13 has the best hybrid design we've seen so far.

While I’m not sure that anyone really wants a tablet that’s quite this big, at the very least it’s a solid contender for the laptop user who just wants the occasional touchscreen experience available.

I salute Lenovo for design imagination. But the touch-pad bug, available storage and battery life, combined with the hefty price, make the Yoga 13 less than ideal.

In attempting to accommodate Windows 8's dual nature, much of the new hardware released for it feels in some way compromised. Hardware that's trying to be both an acceptable laptop and an acceptable tablet often end up being less-than-satisfactory in either role.

I liked the time I spent with it a lot, and if you want a good Windows 8 machine that is fast, versatile, and above all else, fun to use, then I have no problem recommending the Yoga 13. ... I would even say that it’s one of the best Windows 8 machines on the market at the moment.

Overall there are more powerful options out there, but the Yoga 13 does succeed in delivering enough power in a striking and luxury body. It's the build element that elevates the score, despite the noted expense which may be enough to cause some prospective buyers to look elsewhere.

While it's not the perfect laptop, the range of movement and use offered by the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga won us over. The more we embraced its range of movements the more the real-life benefits of a touchscreen display became apparent.

Like most of the Windows 8 convertible tablet/laptops we’ve looked at, the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 isn’t quite the perfect hybrid. However, if you regard it as a touch-screen Ultrabook with a cool twist, it certainly succeeds.

I've only had this for a couple of weeks but so far it's great. My only issue was the way the hard drive is partitioned. I was expecting to have a few gigs missing for the back up partition but when I looked the hard drive was half the size it should have been it seems there are a few more...

So the screen was gorgeous and I loved the form factor, but the keyboard and trackpad were very mediocre, very "meh." The keyboard was work to type on after a while and the trackpad was infuriating. These two elements dramatically undermined the rest of the experience. I ultimately returned it...

An incredibly thin laptop that's awesome, fast, thin, and cheap. I'm a developer, and I've worked with more computers than I can count. I've seen Chromebooks, System76 boxes, Surfaces, iPads, and more, and nothing can come close to this. Boot times are 3 to 4 seconds. That's if I turn on the...

I purchased this laptop about 2 weeks ago with the Core i7, 8GB RAM and 256SSD. So it has every available option from Lenovo. This laptop is incredibly fast with this configuration. Applications load in a snap, and from a cold start it only takes about 7-8 seconds to the login screen. The...
