This thing is 37.5 megapixels of awesome. And their new advertising campaign is pretty awesome too -- it's location specific and their billboards feature up close and personal shots of the walls upon which they actually sit: http://translate.google.com/translate?js=n&prev=_t... It's the same as getting a phone. I've gone cross-eyed trying to compare stuff. Perhaps you guys can help me. I've stuck this in the M8 thread to get more eyeballs as the M8.2 doesn't seem as popular, and I need recommendations from people aware of the image quality difference between an M8 and a high-end P&S. Right. So right now I use three main cameras: The Leica D-Lux 4, the Leica M8.2, and the Sony DSC-T900. The T900 is a camera I hand to other people when I want them to...

If someone drops your Black D-LUX4 and it chips a corner to the silver.... what would be the course of action to smooth things over? Best to to leave it and forget it or is there something that can be done...?
This short film was made by Wim Wenders for Leica as a special feature for the photokina 2008 edition. It emphasizes how personal a Leica camera is for its owner. Video: http://www.vimeo.com/6621910 Gotta love it!
I am looking to get this camera as a present for someone but it would have to be before November 10th. Amazon has it up for preorder now but does anyone know when it would ship in US? I saw a few sites mentioning a January 2010 release date in UK, I really hope US can pull through sooner somehow. Thanks.
Panasonicm with the GF1 and Olympusm with the E-P1 have been making use of this new sensor size, yet keeps the same quality of a consumer level dSLR, yet still keeping its ability to swap out for better lenses. Leica decided to go a different route and give the X1 a fixed APS-C lens with a larger sensor, but keeping the same small body of a point and shoot. Is that red dot and $2000 price tag worth the sacrifice of interchangeable lenses?
Anyone curious to know a bit more on this ahead of schedule should check out DPreview's initial take on it. Read it here, and try not to drool: http://www.dpreview.com/news/0909/09090908leicax1....
... It looks like the release for the flash, doesn't it. Why can't people who do pop-up flashes follow Sony's lead with the V1? It is annoying on all the Lumixes I've had, and it is annoying on the D-Lux 4. I'm not sure about this - it seems to improve in one area of the things I find lacking on the DL4 - image quality in varying light conditions, but doesn't address any of the other practical-use complaints I have (no integrated lenscap, stoopid manual pop-up flash,...

This is going to be such a hot camera. Full frame sensor and the awesome Leica glass? The only problem is that it will probably break my piggy bank. But the M8 was such a phenomenal camera, I'm expecting nothing less than greatness from the M9.
It's not as though I'm deliberately trying to build a Leica collection in particular, but I really like the plain design of these machines and I've been eyeing this given the somewhat weird results I've been getting with the DSC-T900, something I can only put down to the folded lens - perhaps given my (maybe unreasonable) expectations I was anticipating too much out of it, but I'm not wholly happy. And the CL3 seems to be a minimal size tradeoff with the T900 in order to get...

Some mixed reviews out there on this thing, but I'm really curious. Owners, speak up! Aside, does the M8 really have a place at that price-point in a post-E-P1 world? http://gdgt.com/olympus/e-p1/
My research so far tells me that the two cameras are essentially identical in their inner workings. And some argue that all I will be paying for is the Leica brand. Is there truth to this? I am looking to use the camera as a P&S, specifically at low light condition. Will one camera works better than the other in this case? Thanks in advance!
