I've been using mine as a back-up for about two years now and I'm wondering how soon I should consider replacing it. The drive seems to be in good health for the moment, but I'd rather replace it when I want to, not when I have to.
My new 1Tb drive is plugged into my new iMac strictly for Time Machine backup duty. I have the power saving setting 'spin down hard drives when possible' turned on.
