Detailed review
I once had the opportunity to listen to an audiophile's stereo, Bowers and Wilkins 802 series speakers, McIntosch amplifier, and other stuff I don't even know yet. The sound was flawless and felt like I was really there. Ever since then I fell in love with the experience looking to replicate it with a limited budget. So believe it or not, the same guy that had the stereo has a PortaPro, he then showed me why.
I couldn't believe the clarity and the bass, it was like listening to the same stereo clarity. It will never be the same though, because when you listen to a tower speaker you can actually feel the bass and also the depth that it creates by hitting the walls and furniture.
I was more impressed by this headphones when I found out that they were designed in 1984 and it's the Koss most sold product of it's webpage. When a design is so successful, it doesn't need changes (it looks kind of 80's style but it like it) cost of production are of course reduced by this and thus making it cheaper to produce, hence the low price. The costumer is so lucky by this.
When it comes to comfort and built it has its flaws. The band at the top pulls some hairs sometimes. The cable is a little too long to the point that one time I kneed and then stand up, it got caught up in my right knee, so it pulled the headphones down to the point that it separated in two. I thought I had to use the lifetime warranty but I managed to put them back together. It snapped back and works very well now, I just try to knee more carefully. When wearing it, it's hard to feel it's there, and besides that it has a "mechanism" on top of each speaker that makes the pressure go to the head instead of the ears. There's one more thing, I've had this headphones for one year now and the speaker cover has worn out to the point that it's ripping, they sell a small replacement package in amazon for 5 bucks, I might get them.
I hope this review help in making your decision or just agreeing with me if you have one :D
