Seems logical that any external mic will sound better thatn the built-in one. But do any users have comments about which one worked bet for them? Presumably *not* wireless, but would like to hear about those too.
Somehow we have lost a wedding video and a graduation video, and we don't know if it's the camera or the SDHC card (Micro Center's brand) 32 G class 6. With the wedding, we discovered the loss the next morning. In the case of the graduation (today!), there were other videos on the card that we had viewed multiple times and are now gone along with the graduation videos. The camera just shows 0/0 in the list. I just purchased a Kodak Zi8 at Target this morning. I set it up to charge as the manual stated, and saw the charge light come on. I let it charge for about 3 hours, and when I checked it, the charge light was off. Unfortunately, the camera won't turn on. I went through Kodak support and they just suggested to send it in for repair. I certainly won't be doing that, since I just purchased it this morning! I plan on taking it back to Target tomorrow for a refund, but I'd like to know...
Question: Bought a Flip MinoHD and returned it because I was really unhappy with the video quality once I got it on my computer and went full screen. Been looking at the Zi8, what's the video quality like once it's off the camera???
I've seen it mentioned in a few places that the codec used by the Zi8 will mean greater compatibility with Final Cut Express than the awful Flip codec. Anyone know? Would an owner be willing to upload a small video somewhere that was pulled from the Zi8 so I can test it? Thanks.
I know this is overkill, but I want something like the Steadicam Merlin or the Hague Mini Motion-Cam but I don't want to pay for something that costs as much or more than the camera! I've seen the Flip Float DIY project in action, which is pretty nice, but I don't think I have the patience or the skills to put something like that together http://www.protodojo.com/content/2009/01/mini-came... I'm interest in getting an external stereo microphone for my Zi8. The Sony ECMMS907 has good reviews on Amazon but it needs plug in power. Does the Zi8 support this? If not, does anyone have a recommendation for a microphone?
