Bought this camcorder to replace an old miniDV camera with the intention of taking with me to the Bornean rainforest.
Low light performance is brilliant getting crisp shots with little more than firelight. The waterproofing and ruggedness give great piece of mind.
1080p and 720p video can feel little juddery but the 720p 60fps mode is buttery smooth. The Electronic Image Stabilisation helps with shaking hands and the H2O mode boosts saturation to get better underwater shots.
Would be a higher score if it had a macro function for closer shots. At the moment I'm using a small lens from a pair of binoculars which I can hold in front of the camera for close shots.
The the lack of an external mic output is also of a concern although the camera does have gain controls for the internal mic.
