Criteria Comments Rating
  • Ease of use Super simple web based layout that is the same between the WebTop, or the actual installed variants. great!
  • Speed Lightning fast. And since most of the apps are all web based apps, there is little to get in the way. good
  • Configurability Easy to set up and get running. You can set it up via your browser in any computer, and will carry over the installed distro good
  • Ecosystem (apps, drivers, etc.) Being a web driven OS, apps are easy to come by. If you find that there isn't a particular "app" for what you need...you can easily "make one" great!
  • Openness The core of it is Linux. And JoliOS is said to be open as well. Making apps is super simple...So it is as open as it can be. great!
Detailed review
This is an interesting concept. Google ChromeOS is much the same in this aspect of Web based OS's that will start cropping up around us over the next few years. What I like most about this is the extremely LOW system requirements for it to work. If you want to get this up and running on a computer that is over 5 or 6 years old, or older, you will have NO problems. The distro has a low installation footprint, and doesn't require much in the way of hard drive space as everything you do in the OS is web based...games, productivity, communications, everything.

What is really impressive is that the distro can also be used "online" without installation at all. Makes for a perfect educational platform for the student on the go. The next iteration is possibly going to have Android and iOS support!
