  • Sound quality Voice output is great but voice is a little metallic. Does not give the "oomph" factor. However, for this price that I paid SGD189 it makes very good value. good
  • Design and form factor The earphones fit my ears VERY comfortably and I can probably wear it for hours. However, the case provided does not fit with the extension wire properly. good
  • Comfort No complains. No aches after four (4) hours of wearing. great!
  • Noise isolation With my wife's hair dryer going on, hardly tell its on till I'm changing tracks great!
  • Durability With the advertised kevlar shielded wires, it should last well. But I just bought it... if anything happens to it, I'll update the review. great!
Detailed review
My typical test track is Eagle's Hotel California and some Yoyo-Ma. Great integrated but punchy bass, clear and undistorted/realistic highs BUT... I found the mid-range missing the "oomph" factor. My comparison is against the Klispch x10i... but at 30% of the price, it can be easily overlooked.

... the A-Jays Four I owned before had this issue whereby you need to "wear" it in before it started to sound reasonable. I'll continue to monitor if this is the case for the T-Jays Four.

<Update 04.01.2012@0134:> After 24 hours of "burn-in", the mids is certainly finding its footing and producing very soothing warm yet realistic sounds. But compared to my reference in-ear monitors, it lacks the openess on the sound stage. Let's see how it progresses... plan to burn it in for 50-75 hours with some white and pink sweeps. </Update>

The fitting is great and wires don't seem to get all over me (yet). However, I would have some concern with the earphones and the extension not fitting into the case. Since I travel (fly) quite a fair bit, this may prove to be an irritating point... especially if it has to fit an aeroplane adapter... impossible.

<Update;04.01.2012@0140:> Please DO NOT simply take the default ear buds provided. If it hurts, go smaller and if it falls out, go larger. There is the element of sealing as well. Try different methods of wearing it as per the provided instructions, you may find it more comfortable. </Update>

Also, the connector between the earphones and connector is HUGE (7.7mm). This means that some iPhone cases will not fit it without the extension (which is significantly smaller - 5.45mm). That's a difference of 2.15mm difference... makes and breaks my iPhone case. But if you give it some thought, you will most likely use the extension with an iPhone. :)

All my tests are done with the earphones connected to my iPhone with MP3 encoding of 320kbps and 44,100kHz sample rate... vanilla (no eq). This will undoubtly bring purist flames but I want to keep my reviews realistic to what I listen to ALL DAY LONG.

To the human (listening) factor... I have no real complains on this fella. Though the most expensive in the T-Jays range (at this point), it is easily an investment worth keeping. Its not really for the audiophile. But it does bring along many hours of comfortable and enjoyable listening at all volumes.

... and yes. Clarity and bass does not suffer when the volume is set to lower limits. Well balanced...

Easy Listening: 9/10
