Expansys are doing a sale - 50 quid for the 8Gb, which IMHO is a freakin' bargain. Just a huge shame that this is the only one of the really cool concept players which made it out into the market...
Is it even possible? Right now a mid-07 S10 I've re-acquired seems fine, but given my experiences with other built-in batteries I know it's probably going to start not being able to hold a charge in a year or so.
Since this is the first eBook reader I have, can't really comment much. Only that I can see why e-ink makes sense in a reader, rather than backlit LCD.
So I noticed a specific user recently added this to their want list (ah hem, ArmpitOfDeath). My question is, do you *really* want this? I was thinking of adding it to my want list as a joke, but I'm not sure the entire Internet would get it. Maybe these crystals are actually diamonds in disguise and iriver has teamed up with De Beers to get rid of surplus stock?
The sound processing of the H-120 has to the best that was manufactured for general public use. Not only does it has SRS sound technology, you could tweak the output properties of the sound to your very liking thanks to its comprehensive equalizer. Hooked up to my Sony receiver via TOSLINK (that's right, this thing has optical IN and OUT) outputting 100 Watts of power to my speakers, the sound blows me away every time. Unfortunately, the 20GB that was more than enough in 2004, cannot quell...

Did you prefer iRiver gear back when it was HDD-based (and they were outstripping the competition fitting massive hard drives into their PMPs) or do you prefer their more recent flash-based offerings? Post your favourite device too, if you have one (one from both category is quite acceptable)
I loved this MP3/CD player. For its time it was awesome to be able to hold so many songs and be able to swap so easily. The best thing about this player was its remote. Truly a work of genius. If only iriver would re enter the HDD MP3 player market we would get some proper competition for the iPod.
I really think iRiver made a huge mistake by not making a 3rd gen Clix. I think the tech world really fell for the little player, and i bet a 3rd gen would have really gotten a big user base. I think they should still make one, with at least 32gb flash or an HDD version, too. The clix was way more intuitive than any iPod I've ever used - including the iPod touch. If iRiver ever realizes its mistake and then fixes it and makes a 3rd gen clix, I'm totally buying it - like I bet many other...
The Iriver works great with Rockbox (http://www.rockbox.org/), an open-source firmware that unlocks a mountain of features not supported in the proprietary firmware such as FLAC and ogg support. Follow the simple directions at the website and enjoy!
I've got an H340, which I still use. I also use it as a 'jukebox' to store all my music files and play on different computers. It's got the Rockbox firmware, but I don't use many of the features due to the small screen. I've replaced the battery once. But apart from that it's still going strong. I am considering the Zune HD or iPod Touch 3rd generation as a replacement (when released).
Ok, I realise this is a dinosaur when it comes to MP3 players, but it has been such a quality player/recorder... that is until recently. A number of MP3 podcasts I've downloaded over recent weeks will list ok on the H120, but when trying to play them, it just skips the file (as if it's 0 seconds long). In particular it's happening with the TWIT (twit.tv) range of podcasts (in the last month or so). Is anyone else experiencing this, or is it just my device? I've done a heap of...
