Conclusion: We're mixed

If you're using Apple's AirPlay to stream music through your home, the iW2 will give you decent sound at an affordable price, and packs in a number of handy features, including a USB port, an iOS docking connector, and an Ethernet port in case you'd prefer a wired connection over Wi-Fi. The key thing it's missing is a battery, which makes it less flexible than some other AirPlay speakers, including the older iW1. While the Audyssey Audio Dock Air also lacks a battery, and costs more, its sound quality is significantly better. If you can live without the battery, and are satisfied with its sound quality, the iW2 is a reasonable option for its price.

A great AirPlay speaker at a great price. If you don’t mind that it needs to be plugged in at all times, you’ll find that it’s simple to configure, generates good (loud!) audio, takes up little space, and looks nice, too.

The iW2 is ultimately remarkable for how unremarkable it is. It's not a sterling example of sound or design, but neither is it terrible. It simply serves its purpose.
