Conclusion: We're mixed

The iHome iDM8 is a small, affordable, and attractive Bluetooth speaker that provides reasonable sound quality at relatively low volumes. However, it doesn't include a speakerphone, and given that you'll need to stay pretty close to the speaker to be able to get any real use out of it, you may be better off getting a similarly priced wired desktop speaker, which will provide higher-quality sound — or spending a little more on a more versatile Bluetooth speaker.

The bottom line: The iHome iDM8 is a good portable Bluetooth speaker for the money; we just like its step-up brother, the DM11, a little better.

Bottom Line The iHome iDM8 is an affordable and uniquely designed portable Bluetooth speaker, but it doesn't get very loud, and distorts before it reaches maximum volume.

while the less than optimally-located controls could use some rethinking. These are relatively small issues given how much iDM8 and iDM11 do right for $60-$70; both are worthy of our general recommendation and B rating.
