The One SV is all about compromise. Its specifications aren't going to wow anyone into an impulse purchase, especially in a world spoiled by quad-core chips and 720p displays. Still, performance is more than adequate.

The HTC One SV, primarily available in the US as an option on the Cricket prepaid service, is a good, affordable smartphone that works well with Cricket's nascent 4G LTE data network. PC Mag tags the SV as "the best phone Cricket offers for under $400," and calls it "a great way to experience Cricket's new LTE network." (Since PC Mag wrote its review, Cricket has dropped the price of the SV even further, to $280.) Techradar also likes the SV, and says it's "a great phone for what it is - a mid-range device designed for LTE connectivity." If you're a Cricket customer with access to LTE, the SV is a great deal -- though if you can afford it, Cricket also offers the Samsung Galaxy S III, a gdgt Must-have, and one of the best LTE phones currently available.

The HTC One SV’s sleek design and fast processor are impressive, but not its call quality or the pictures it takes.

Read the full review →If you're looking for a 4G-enabled smartphone with a slightly lower budget, the HTC One SV may be worth looking at. However, don't expect great photos out of it.
Read the full review →It’s not a bad device, but it demands too many compromises from cutting-edge users tempted by 4G, and can’t compete on price with more affordable HSPA+ phones on other networks.
Read the full review →Overall, the HTC One SV isn't a bad phone, but it does have weaknesses and, as this is sitting on EE, you could pick up a much better handset for £30 when you take out your contract, making it something of a hard sell.
Read the full review →When combined with Cricket's very cost effective (read cheap but full featured) monthly service plans getting this one is a no-brainer if you can get good Cricket service. The phone is built like a tank, looks absolutely stunning ... and performs well above it's budget friendly price tag.

The One SV is a great phone for what it is - a mid-range device designed for LTE connectivity ... Unfortunately, the One SV doesn't do enough to try and make up for the battery drain of LTE.
Read the full review →Overall the HTC One SV offers up a slightly peculiar selection of features. On the one hand it’s nicely designed, has a good quality screen ... But, on the other hand, its screen is low resolution, its processor relatively slow, its camera below par and its price too high.
Read the full review →The HTC One SV is cool, rather than premium and would feel much better value with double the 8GB storage and a 8 Megapixel camera.
Read the full review →I hope that the One SV gets attention from some bigger carriers in the U.S. though, because with some solid marketing and attractive pricing at a larger carrier, it could certainly do well among subscribers seeking a low-cost phone that stands out from the crowd.

Like the Desire X, the curved size and (relatively) small screen-size mean it's easy to handle, while LTE connectivity and a 1.2GHz Snapdragon S4 processor made easy work of browsing on Chrome and navigating Android 4.0.
Read the full preview →Overall, we're liking the look of the HTC One SV so far. It's smart, has a reasonable balance of features and a quick test of its 4G connectivity shows it's just as nippy as any other 4G handset.
