Detailed review
Reviewing the HTC Magic or My Touch as it will be known in the US is as much about, if not more about reviewing it's Android operating system than it is the device itself.

Based on that I'll split the review down the middle, Hardware then Software.

I'll try my best to keep the word count to a minimum and as such ill just give my short opinions on what I feel are the most important aspects.

HARDWARE:

Overall the hardware is of a good standard as you'd expect from HTC.

Build quality: Flawless, beautiful design, feels fantastic in the hand, button placement is great and responsive.

Touch Screen: Clear and bright, not prone to scratching but prone to smudging, good in low light conditions with brightness reduced.

Still and Video Camera: The 3.2mp Auto focus camera is good but not great for taking still pictures video quality by comparison is poor, neither work well in low light conditions as there is no flash and the delay from pressing - focusing - and taking the picture can be a little annoying at first.

Other: No standard 3.5mil headphone jack is plain annoying and the supplied perpriatory headset is appalling.

Lack of a physical keyboard could be a deal breaker for some.

SOFTWARE:

The Google Android operating system even though still in it's infancy at 1.5 is where the magic really happens.

Screen Layout: The home screen layout is easy to navigate and to arrange as you would like, the ability to choose widget placement is a real time saver, being only 3 panels wide could be a problem for some with many apps coming from other platforms.

Apps Tap: The app tab at the bottom of the screen which shows and houses all your apps is very easy to access and makes accessing apps not on the home screen a breeze, the ability to sort other than alphabetical would be nice.

Notification Panel: The notification panel at the top of home screen is accessible from any app at any time is the best way I have seen yet on a mobile device for keeping track of notifications for email, phone calls, SMS, Twitter and even the weather. It's gives you a change to take a quick glance at an email or a missed call without interrupting what your doing, my favorite feature of the device.

Touch Screen and Browsing: The capacitive touch screen is responsive enough but could be better, don't think it's going to annoy you it almost certainly won't its just not implemented as well as on the iPhone, Multi-touch would add real benefit to browsing but still the experience is overall very good.

Keyboard: The soft keyboard is good in portrait and better in landscape, the suggestive dictionary is very well implemented and makes typing long emails quick and painless.

Market Place or App Store: The market for Android apps is growing rapidly and the Market place implementation is good the only issue is you have to enter card details each time when purchasing an app with value. Over time I think the market place will really take off.

email Support: The tie in with Google makes Gmail a dream to use, there is a dedicated email client for other providers but if your planning on using this the magic as your primary work email device I'd research it thoroughly before jumping in.

In short I would not hesitate to recommend this device to anyone other than those who require a physical keyboard, is it a kind of magic or just kinda magic? to me it's a kind of magic.
