I should start off by saying that my last 3 mobile phones have been the Samsung SGH-I300, HTC TyTN II and then a SE Xperia X1, all very good phones with thier own pros and cons. The reason for me having an HTC Magic is that i dropped my Xperia and killed it. I don' t purchase phone insurance as... Read the full review →
Reviewing the HTC Magic or My Touch as it will be known in the US is as much about, if not more about reviewing it's Android operating system than it is the device itself. Based on that I'll split the review down the middle, Hardware then Software. I'll try my best to keep the word... Read the full review →
I've been quite pleased so far with this myTouch 3G. It has been quite reliable, battery can last up to two days as long as you're careful about turning off GPS, lowering back-light, not running too many background apps. My biggest problem comes from a twofold limitation: Android OS forces... Read the full review →
Good usability and (with root access) high customization possibilities. Probably cupcake (Android) is not the best OS in the world, but like an Linux OS, you can change it, and you have a great community behind. This would be a great little phone if it weren't so damn slow. The problem was when they upgraded the version of android that was on it. Instead of the faster 1.6 that it started with, they upgraded it to something newer, and unfortunately the phone's specs just couldn't keep up. It's so slow that... Read the full review →
The Magic, or as it is sold in the states, the MyTouch 3G, is a phone that got less attention than it deserved, but it is now considered old hardware. The G1 got credit for being the first android phone, but the magic, the second, did a lot of things better than its older brother, like improved... Read the full review →
I have used the HTC Magic for a few months and am generally satisfied with the build quality. The best thing about this phone is hands down the Android OS. There is just so much potential there. I actually like that this phone does not have a physical keypad as I don't like the look and feel of... Read the full review →
I've had the myTouch 3G for around 4 weeks now and it's my favorite phone that I have ever owned. I have found it to be very responsive and speedy. It could definitely use more RAM though because once you get a few apps going, the device does show some lag. The myTouch is also smaller than... Read the full review →
I desperately needed a new phone and I run my small business on Google Apps so it made sense to upgrade to an Android device. The mytouch is a nice little phone with a beautiful screen and I love Android as an OS. It's comfortable to hold and doesn't feel like a brick in your pocket (I... Read the full review →

I like it, you actually can tell that htc, google, and t-mobile is trying very hard to win your love. As a freelancer with a list of clients and vendors, apps like google voice and other google apps really makes my life easy. And did I mention it's not on AT&T? the bad - under power hardware,... [Software] By the time MyTouch was available, Android had proven itself to be a mobile OS at least worth looking at. Apps in the marketplace were were seeing a decent growth and some very cool features were being introduced. Key among them, and this speaks to the form factor of the phone, was the... I enjoyed the phone the first year I owned it, but after one year, the smart phone turned into a stupid rectangular paperweight. For my next phone, I'll look for something other than an HTC simply due to how little use I get out of my MyTouch. Read the full review →
First off I am coming from a G1. Now that was hands down my favorite phone, but this one has almost made me forget it. The screen is normally responsive enough, and the phone itself is very fast when handling third party apps like flyscreen and multiple services running in the background. The size... First let me say that I went from a jailbroken iPhone to this phone because I was told by a retention rep that it would meet my needs. It DIDNT !! It's my first android phone and the first days with it were a very good experience, I can do pretty much everything I want with it. In France the phone comes with an 8GB SD card, so the ROM is not a problem. You'll get some trouble with the RAM if you have too much apps installed and... Read the full review →
My HTC Magic / T-Mobile myTouch 3G been running Android 1.6 since I got it. Unlike its competition in app-enabled phones, the Android-based apps that you can install on this phone and other Android devices run with each screen in a separate "Activity". What this means is that if there is a... Read the full review →

The style nf operation of the phone were great. It was the t-mobile lack of service that made me dump this phone. On a better network I am sure this would have scored higher. The places I had problems with the T-mobile service were locations where Verizon, Sprint and AT&T networks had 3G... Read the full review →

The primary thing that makes this a pain to use is the sluggishness of the phone. I experience lag opening apps, closing apps, and even typing on the keyboard it freezes up. Very frustrating. Read the full review →
The Google Ion is the Android device for which we've been waiting. A few complaints remain, but its eye-catching design and interface, improved features, and satisfying performance make us excited about Android's full potential.
The new Android 1.5 software adds quite a number of features to this smartphone compared with the Dream, but HTC needs to iron out a few niggles to make it better.
Although the T-Mobile G2/Google Ion/HTC Magic has still has its flaws, it's essentially better than the G1 in every way. It's lighter, faster, better and supposedly lasts longer on a charge. Unless you absolutely need to have a hardware keyboard for massive text entry, there's no real reason why Android seekers shouldn't get the G2 when it debuts on T-Mobile soon.
It goes by many names. The HTC Magic on Vodafone here in the UK, Google Ion, when handed out as a freebie at the search giant’s developer conference, and the myTouch 3G on T-Mobile in the states. But, whichever way you slice it, the second Android-powered Google phone, manufactured by HTC, is an improvement over the original T-Mobile G1 in almost every way.
In a lot of ways, the phone seems like a last generation product, but it's obviously the only one of its kind available in the States at the moment, so we suppose T-Mobile would beg to differ. Every single cover we've seen so far looks completely horrible, and while it's nice to have "options" (T-Mobile's big marketing play with this phone) we'd think twice before putting a pic of our dog on the back of one of these.
