The Google Ion is the Android device for which we've been waiting. A few complaints remain, but its eye-catching design and interface, improved features, and satisfying performance make us excited about Android's full potential.

Unless you absolutely need to have a hardware keyboard for massive text entry, there's no real reason why Android seekers shouldn't get the G2 when it debuts on T-Mobile soon.

In all, the myTouch has smoothed out nearly all of the G1′s numerous rough edges. We may not be dumping our iPhones for it just yet, but at least the open source crowd no longer has to be embarrassed about its top-of-the-line handset.

The T-Mobile myTouch 3G with Google is the closest thing T-Mobile has to an iPhone, which will win it a lot of fans.

Though it isn't perfect, Android 1.5 is a significant improvement over the first version, and software-wise, the Magic is much improved over the Dream. It does have a few niggles that require sorting out, especially for text input.

In short, this is a very good upgrade from HTC, which has enjoyed a meteoric rise in the last 18 months, and all we can do now is salivate at the prospect of a year chock-full with new Android handsets. However, they'll all have to go the extra mile to beat this new kid on the block.

Bottom line: if you want a phone to surf the web on and can’t afford the expense of an iPhone, or are already overly reliant on Google apps (that’s me by the way), you won’t be disappointed with the HTC Magic.

I enjoyed the phone the first year I owned it, but after one year, the smart phone turned into a stupid rectangular paperweight. For my next phone, I'll look for something other than an HTC simply due to how little use I get out of my MyTouch.

First off I am coming from a G1. Now that was hands down my favorite phone, but this one has almost made me forget it. The screen is normally responsive enough, and the phone itself is very fast when handling third party apps like flyscreen and multiple services running in the background. The...

First let me say that I went from a jailbroken iPhone to this phone because I was told by a retention rep that it would meet my needs. It DIDNT !! I will give HTC their props though for building a solid piece of hardware with good touchscreen response, a decent keyboard (for experienced touch...

It's my first android phone and the first days with it were a very good experience, I can do pretty much everything I want with it. In France the phone comes with an 8GB SD card, so the ROM is not a problem. You'll get some trouble with the RAM if you have too much apps installed and...

My HTC Magic / T-Mobile myTouch 3G been running Android 1.6 since I got it. Unlike its competition in app-enabled phones, the Android-based apps that you can install on this phone and other Android devices run with each screen in a separate "Activity". What this means is that if there...

The style nf operation of the phone were great. It was the t-mobile lack of service that made me dump this phone. On a better network I am sure this would have scored higher. The places I had problems with the T-mobile service were locations where Verizon, Sprint and AT&T networks had 3G...

The primary thing that makes this a pain to use is the sluggishness of the phone. I experience lag opening apps, closing apps, and even typing on the keyboard it freezes up. Very frustrating.

I've lived with the Magic for nearly 2 years now, and have to say I love the look and feel of the Android OS. As an avid IT tinkerer I have tried numerous open source ROM builds and use one as my daily driver. To be fair the device is now showing it's age and it really needs a bit more...

At the time, the magic was great. As time has gone by the OS version has remained at 1.5. HTC installed the hero rom on the later magics and made the process of installing custom roms near impossible. HTC could have just released an official update but alas...
