The answer to the question is a clear 'No'. 'No' in the sense that it will not outsell the iphone. 'No' in the sense that it will not convince subscribers to leave their current network on mass. But 'No' in the sense that its inferior - not in my opinion.... Read the full review →
this phone is great...really happy with it...with heaps and heaps of features and functions..... just wish the phone ships with a huge internal storage which make it superb....its defenetly even faster than before (shipping rom..with a bit of lag)...and many functions being improve.... good thing... I started with a Symbian phone, Nokia 3600 (http://gdgt.com/nokia/3600/) way back in 2003. I had a few phones since then including iPhone (2G), BB Curve, PPC6800 (WM5.0), G1, Palm Pre, Samsung Moment. I am enjoying the Hero the most so far. I have to say that I am a HTC fanboy now. I've had 2... Read the full review →
A brief summary of a review: I was fed up with my iPhone, largely due to the App Store restrictions and the interminable lag between doing nothing and trying to do something. I've found the Hero's overall experience to be much better so far, not just in terms of speed, but also the level... Read the full review →
I've been using the Hero for about two months now. I've bought it in Taiwan and unlocked it in U.S for AT&T. This phone is really the first successful Android phone on the market. It offers the customization option from the Android platform while giving a well-designed Sense user interface... Read the full review →

The HTC Hero on Sprint was my first smartphone and first introduction to the Android OS. Although not as powerful as other devices that have come out since, it did a commendable job within its limitations. HTC Sense made the experience more user firendly as a beginner; since then I have grown to not... Read the full review →
The Sense UI is awesome. It makes life easier with live widgets. It is so customizable its not even funny. There is pretty much nothing i can say bad about the OS except the marketplace. Its not there yet. It has some of the best apps though. only 5000 of the 65,000 apps on the App store are useful.... Read the full review →
This is the first device I've ever owned that feels like its more at home in a sci-fi movie than the present. The sheer amount of connectivity it brings to my everyday life continues to surprise me. Email, SMS, Phone calls, internet, twitter, you name it, is all seamlessly stitched together... Read the full review →
I got the HTC Hero the day it was released on Sprint. I was switching from my iPhone 3G partly because of better prices (especially since I was able to get a Sprint sero account) and a better network, but also because Android looked like it was in a position to overcome Apple's mobile device.... [This applies to the newly updatd software] Great phone, overall my only gripes would be the sub iPhone build quality (still better than many phones mind), poor audio over the 3.5mm jack and not quite there typing on the virtual keyboard On the plus side, Android truly does feel more open and fresh... I have owned the 1st generation iPhone, HTC G1, iPhone 3GS, and now the HTC Hero (sprint) and would rank the HTC Hero as #1. Mainly because of the open OS (android) and strong momentum in development for android. Apple has the edge in software apps today but it will not be long before android wins... Read the full review →
I've had this phone for a couple months. The touch-screen responsiveness can be a bit sluggish. It's nice that it has a built-in, 5 mega pixel camera, but don't expect the pictures or videos to be as good as a real, 1 mega pixel camera. The synchronization with Google Calendar and... I've had one other phone I really loved for its physical design - the original Orange Nokia "brick". But the T-Mobile G2 Touch aka HTC Hero feels great, looks great and huge fun to use. It makes the iPhone look positive old-fashioned - and I'm no iPhone hater. Some people have... Read the full review →

I've been waiting for an android phone on sprint for a while now, and this is it. The HTC Hero is a solid device. The android platform brings plenty of apps, and HTC Sense UI is not only very solid but also very nice to look at. The custom widgets HTC Bundles with the phone are top notch and... This was a great phone when I first got it. HTC's Sense UI is great and it does seem to slow the phone down any. The big problem is waiting for updates for this phone. When it first came out there were many bugs that were not patched until months later. The phone still uses Android 1.5 and... Read the full review →
On the whole the Hero is good value hardware. New in a box, it can be had for at least half the price of an iPhone - pretty much the reason I bought it. Having widgets, Gmail, a decent browser, Google synced contacts, calendar and facebook is all great. However, it's not an iPhone killer in... Read the full review →

Pros: - Hardware is solid, relatively thin, not too heavy - Actual buttons on front of phone - HTC Sense is a great addition to Android (especially the touchscreen keyboard) - Generally responsive to input and programs rarely lag - 2 days of battery life with typical usage for me - 2.1 update... I switched from an iPhone to the HTC Hero to save a bit of money and it was clearly a step backwards. On Android 1.5 the phone wasn't a match for the iPhone and on 2.1 it was too sluggish to make advantage of the features. Enjoyed the feel of the phone in my hand and it lasted a good 15 months of... I was so damn happy when I first bought this phone. But then Android 2.1 was released. And then Android 2.2. And all I heard was the update's coming, it's coming, be patient. So I waited. And waited. And watched the US Hero get the update. Then the Asians. Then the Europeans. And then the... Read the full review →
Pocket Lint has a review of the HTC Hero, below is a section of their verdict.
We love the design and the build too, and the flexibility of an open source operating system like Android excites us: the community is there, making applications to enhance the experience so the phone can give that seamless integrated experience.
"There's a lot to like about the HTC Hero. A lot. Be it the multiple homescreens, the option to change scenes to suit the time of day, the Facebook integration or even the responsive touchscreen."
"However, there were lows, and some of them were pretty deep indeed. The 528MHz processor doesn't seem to be grunty enough to power all the multi-tasking the phone needs to do. Coverflow in the music player, updating weather or Twitter or simply skimming through larger web pages brought the phone to a halt, and on occasion, crashed it completely."
