I've tried everything, and so far this is my favorite.

I started with a Symbian phone, Nokia 3600 (http://gdgt.com/nokia/3600/) way back in 2003. I had a few phones since then including iPhone (2G), BB Curve, PPC6800 (WM5.0), G1, Palm Pre, Samsung Moment. I am enjoying the Hero the most so far.

I have to say that I am a HTC fanboy now. I've had 2 android phones before and HTC has outdone themselves with this phone. They've replaced a lot for the better, including MMS app, the keyboard app (better suited for a touchscreen phone), the dialer, the contacts, tons of new widgets.

None of it feels gimmicky either [maybe a couple of the widgets] as they enhancements for a touchscreen phone. It's like an iPhone that's not locked down and can be customized.

Side note: you MUST use a task killer app. This phone is meant to multi-task, but apps ontop of apps take up memory and slow this phone down. It's a con, but it is to be expected and does not detract from the phone itself.
