The tech industry needs the "Nexus Two" or whatever name Google decides to name their next official Android device, if & when it ever comes out.
details
I know Eric Schmidt already said it's not going to happen, but I think Google could be missing out on something special if they do. As everyone knows, the Nexus One was supposed to change how we view cell phones forever. Unfortunately, Google learned how much control the carriers still have over this space. Thus, the Nexus One turned out to be a "failure". But as you look at the new crop of Android phones, none of them stand out as THE device as far as how the OS's experience... Read more →

Can somebody recommend an iOS and/or Android app that aggregates pictures from your various online service accounts so you can view them in one gallery/app?
details
Preferably without compromising the accounts themselves (giving my Facebook/google password to a random dev is not really cool in my book). The default gallery on my Nexus One aggregates multiple google/Picasa accounts, but that's it. No Facebook. iOS is worse, as the default photo app only shows the local pictures. Do I have to wait for Winpho7?

I have the Nexus One and a Mac user. One thing I love about the iPhone is that I can use iTunes to manage podcasts and automatically sync them with my iPhone.
details
Is there a solution like this for Android? -Doubletwist: No podcast syncing on Mac -Songbird: Primitive podcast support. Many feeds are not supported -banshee: Mac version has no device syncing Another solution is downloading podcasts directly on my Nexus One. This is not ideal as download speed is slow (faster if I just do it on my desktop and sync them). I did try Google Listen, but flaky downloads and no widget for easy playback controls. I want something that integrates with the built-in...

The only phone w/ Android 2.2 is no longer for sale?
details
This seems infinitely frustrating! The Nexus One is the only Android phone on the market right now that supports Android 2.2 and it is no longer being offered for sale. To my friends of the Android loving variety, how do you feel about that? It seems kind of backwards to me, but I'm curious whether or not this bothers most people.

I know that I have been waiting for these to become readily available for a couple of months but I just wanted to give a heads up about 32GB MicroSDHC cards.
details
Apparently a few reputable retailers have them in stock now like Buy.com and J&R. http://www.jr.com/sandisk/pe/SAD_SDSDQ032GA1/ Hopefully I'll get one in the next couple months and get all my media from my iPod Touch onto my Nexus One. If only the battery lasted as long...

I stopped using my iPhone 3GS for a week and used only a Nexus One.
details
Android is, in my opinion, not quite there yet: cut, copy and paste is not very easy, poor text selection, poor quality of apps, very messy android store, poor UI, scary SD card file structure, not very responsive (but that got a lot better with Froyo). I loved the high resolution of the Nexus One, the widgets, notifications, and the fact that it is an independant device (not tied to iTunes). I'm back to my 3GS and selling the Nexus One...

I've really struggled to find a source/method to download TV shows/movies to my N1.
details
When I buy stuff off of itunes and drag it over, the DRM prevents it from playing. When I buy stuff off of Amazon and drag it over, it doesn't even show up in the player. I've tried Double Twist, but it doesn't solve the problem. This is the last thing that keeps me using an ipod, and I'd really like to be done with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Finally got the OTA update to 2.2. After using it pretty extensively all day, it seems really solid.
details
I like the fact that I no longer have to take up icon space for the browser or phone. Another small tweak that I like and will use all the time: in the power widget, hitting the brightness button one extra time sets the phone to automatic brightness instead of predetermined, static levels. I'm using the portable hotspot to start this discussion. My city has TMo's HSPA+ so browsing is way faster than I anticipated. It's actually just as fast as my wifi here in the apartment... These may be a really dumb questions. Can the OTA occur over Wifi? Might it make it more likely that you'll get it sooner?
details
I ask about the Wifi b/c I often put my phone in airplane mode and turn on wifi. But I've been wondering about how involved my carrier, TMO, is in all this and if all the OTAs go through their airwaves or does it go through that neutral slice of spectrum Google helped to create? And b/c wifi is better for all parties involved (faster, less stress on carrier's network) if the system of pushing out OTAs would prefer wifi and perhaps has a way of identifying phones on wifi...? What do you...

Everyone complains about Android's fragmentation at the OS level, but one other thing I've been noticing lately is how completely inconsistent even…

something as minor as physical button layouts are on Android handsets. I've seen almost as many different combinations of buttons as there are Android phones, and the funny thing is that manufacturers aren't even internally consistent with their layouts, it's like no one can settle on a preferred order. I know this isn't something that the average person would notice or maybe even care about -- they probably don't have six Android phones on their desk right now -- but it... Read more →

amount when I was paying the "upgrade" T-Mobile price of $279. That sent me back to comparing contract vs. no contract and be cause I assuMEd the contract price would be cheaper...I got the pleasure of spending another 45 minutes asking to pay full price (well I already was charged the full price tax) so that I can get the no contract T-Mobile rate that is $240 cheaper a year. But the order went out, so I need to refuse, wait for credit refund to post to my credit card, and then start...
