The Droid Eris was an underpowered underdog of a cellphone. It performed adequately, but never superbly. It had problems making phone calls in succession; the screen and keyboard were laggy and frustrating to use; it had terrible call quality. It lasted me two entire years, and I could rely on it to... I will be brief as I had the orginal iPhone, 3g and 3gs and this phone is so much better in almost every way - calls (what can I say it is Verizon - the best network), e-mail, widgets, fast, feels great in your hand (so balanced) and solid, screen is bright and sharp, syncs with gmail account or... I have tried to leave the iPhone two times before with no success. The third time might be a success. I have owned the Droid Eris for about a week now and I am continuing to learn what this phone can do. The main reason I left the iPhone was the network and syncing to a computer. The network is the... Read the full review →
This phone DOES everything that I wanted the iPhone to do and more! It feels great to be free from restrictions like not having to sync with iTunes or constantly jailbreak my phone just to do something simple like change my home screen background. The phone is pretty quick and has tons of features... Read the full review →
I had a chance to play with both the Droid and the Droid Eris while I waited in line at my local Verizon store, I wanted to see which phone felt better and was easiest to use and I kept going back to the Eris. The UI is very intuitive and close to that of an iphone. So far the phone has performed... Read the full review →
The HTC Eris with the Droid OS is winner. Verizon Wireless coverage just enhances an already wonderful user experience. The phone is slight smaller than an iPhone which is a plus. It's screen resolution is first rate. The touch functionality is excellent and the trackball is an added feature... Read the full review →

I upgraded from what has to be one of the worst smartphones, the Blackberry Pearl, to this. My battery was dying and cost an arm and a leg, so I jumped over for a little more out of pocket. I'm not disappointed at all, but there are a few hiccups. The screen is fantastic. Obviously not the best... Read the full review →

I was not interested in the large format of the Moto Droid and this was the only other option at the time on Verizon so I went with it. Just after I bought it an OS update came out... then 3 months later it was avaialble for my phone. Then another OS update came out and they just decided they would... Read the full review →

Bought this phone the day it came out, despite it having 1.5 OS (Cupcake) on it, it's still a solid phone for someone who is looking to get out of a clamshell design. It can be pretty snappy, though at times it can be fairly laggy and seem to be unresponsive. That said, the Sense UI is a deal... Read the full review →

ive had the eris since it came out and im impressed with it but it does have its faults, like the battery doesnt last a full day but i manage with it, some lag here and there but nothing to drastic, same for typing it does lag a few times. everything else is great, like i said its a great phone but... I purchased the HTC Eris at the first of January based on the reputations of the Android OS and HTC. I was not disappointed in the least. The Eris Sense is very intuitive in helping walk you through how to set up and use this phone. Even though I changed to Droid by Motorola at the beginning of... Read the full review →

As you can see from my review i really don't like this phone at all. I have it and have had to go back to Verizon 3 times to have them replace it. There are HUGE lag problems. You push a button and it can take easily 5 seconds to respond to your command. It is SLOW SLOW SLOW. I would NEVER recommend... Read the full review →
I've only had this phone for about 24 hours but I'm completely blown away. The apps are just incredible, and the camera's great. That said, this is one of the best phones on the Verizon network, and is a step above everything they've offered previously. Everything just runs... Read the full review →

I received this phone for my 2-year upgrade earlier this year, and was hugely excited by the prospect of owning a "Droid does" phone. It certainly does "do". Not only can you run just about as many apps as you want at the same time (and trust me, there is plenty for you in the... Read the full review →

Very happy with the Eris. I rooted it and upgraded to Android Froyo. All works well. Cannot wait for Gingerbread ROM! Read the full review →
This phone is much better than the Droid because it doesn't have a real keyboard. This may seem like a downside, but the Droid's real keyboard is horrible and most people I talk to say that the touch keyboard is better. I have an iPod touch and so I know what a good keyboard is, and this... Read the full review →

<rant> When I got mine, they had a deal going and I got two for $80 - that's the only reason I'm quasi-satisfied with the Eris. Was my first Android phone, and I loved it, but most of the apps I want to use are either too slow to load or just slow in general, that it defeats the... Read the full review →
In our brief play, the Droid Eris was quick and nimble, most likely benefiting from the HTC Hero update recently rolled out to the Sprint variant. It's fast enough that you won't find yourself struggling with whether you've pressed the button or flipped a screen, and as flipping through screens is something that you'll find yourself doing a lot, it's only fair to expect good performance. We weren't disappointed.
I've reviewed the Droid Eris twice before, when it was called the Hero. The difference is that Verizon's selling it for half the price, making it the cheapest Android phone you can buy—and the best, for the money.
Eris is Verizon's other Droid phone. It really is a remodeled Hero, running Android 1.5 and HTC's vaunted Sense candy coating—documented CSI style here—a $200 phone stuffed inside a thinner $100 body, like a Corvette engine shoved inside a Saturn. It's admittedly less exciting than the titular Droid, an industrial beast running Android 2.0.
