Detailed review
While not bad for a "1.0" product, the G1 is definitely challenged by the power and capability of Android, especially features like video recording and heavy multi-tasking. In addition, you'll want to buy an extra battery to get through the day. In fact you may want to get a big 2200mh battery so that you can keep all the great features like GPS, Bluetooth, music playback/streaming and the bright screen active all of the time.

Hands down, the best feature for power users is multi-tasking and the notifications bar. You'll always be on top of the latest tweet, email, sms, IRC chat message, skype chat, etc... it is pretty fantastic how much you can keep on top of within such a small screen experience.

Otherwise, as an open-source hardware hacker, the "rootability" of this device is the most exciting aspect. Google's support for developers surpasses Apple, and ensures the longevity of the Android platform.
