Shortcomings aside, though, you're still buying into one of the most exciting developments in the mobile world in recent memory. When you put the G1 up against, say, a Sidekick LX, it seems like a no-brainer for T-Mobile customers looking for a powerful QWERTY device -- especially at $20 less.

This Android-powered smartphone has a host of features that will appeal to the Internet junkie on-the-go but still lacks some basics, limiting its broader appeal.
Read the full review →It's not perfect, but for people who like tinkering, its cons are outweighed by its pros such as Gmail and the Marketplace.
Read the full review →With its laundry list of features that include a GPS receiver, a WiFi radio, 3G data connection, 3.2 megapixel camera, and capacitance-based 3.2-inch touchscreen, the T-Mobile G1 is a powerhouse of a smartphone.
Read the full review →So if you're a big Gmail user and don't care about many of the high-end features and business tools found on other platforms, then the T-Mobile G1 and Android may be a good fit.
Read the full review →my biggest complaint ... battery life, Tmobile's spotty 3g service (read slooooow download speeds and crappy/slow browser) and probably most noticeable is the performance lags. nothing is more annoying then waiting for the G1 to figure out what it wants to do. even when trying to close an...
Read the full review →I really love this phone, first and foremost. The simplicity of it's exterior only masks the unbelievable power this phone holds. Its fast and seamless motion between objects makes me feel like I can manage so many things at once... all my contacts, emails, txts, IM's, games, hell I...
Read the full review →Google's first phone, a strong entry but iPhone quickly made this phone seem years behind.
Read the full review →HTC fans I'm sure will quickly snap at my argument that the HTC Dream is a piece of junk. To be fair, HTC does put out some quality sliders. And we know they love their sliders. However, the Dream's form factor is a big downfall. The awkward "chin" makes typing a pain, and...
Read the full review →Before the homebrew community for the G1 was big, the coolest thing I could do on this phone was scan barcodes. It's not exactly a powerhouse in terms of its processing power, memory, and overall hardware specs, but the homebrew community (in particular people like @cyanogen) have made the...
Read the full review →The T-Mobile G1 is a great phone for what it is, the first Android device. It is no longer the flagship device and as such has lost some of its luster, however it continues to receive new google apps and some love from time to time. It is unclear if the device will ever be updated to Android...
Read the full review →Where to begin with the G1. I'm writing this review almost as a long term test. I'll be relegating my G1 to backup phone status come the new year (in favor of the G2). So I wanted to write a bit about my past 2 years with this phone, before I give it up, almost a historical piece....
Read the full review →I've been using this o develop and debug very simple apps, pretty solid phone but its age is showing
Read the full review →This phone is very ugly. I actually like the chin, but it is very bulky. The keyboard is sometimes difficult to type on because the keys are not pushed out at all. I like the conecept of the OS, but its horrible to look at is not very intuitive. T-Mobile's 3G is hardly anywhere, but I still...
Read the full review →I just want to point out that if you get one of this phone upgrade it to Eclair (Android 2.1)
Read the full review →I love my HTC Dream and have been happily using it for two months. The phone is loaded with tons of awesome features, looks and feels great, and manages to scoot out with only one flaw. I find that the sharing of the memory and storage on one media is absurd considering the gamut of applications...
Read the full review →I moved to the G1 a few months back from a two year old T-Mobile Dash (Windows Mobile 6 Standard). The G1 is/was the best phone T-Mobile had to offer and moving to AT&T was not an option so I bit the bullet. I primarily use my phone for work (we use Exchange) so I needed something that would...
Read the full review →The first phone I preordered and the first to get me started into an ongoing android love affair, it was ugly thick and had a atrocious battery looking back on it, but it will always hold a special place in my history of phones.
