Criteria Comments Rating
  • Reception and call quality No comments great!
  • Display If rooted, 5 out of 5 - the buttons do bleed out on the screen but there is a mod to where you dim them on XDA. good
  • Battery life Stock, battery life is just ok, little under So-So. Rooted and with a new kernel, it can go much longer. 5 out of 5 if rooted. poor
  • Camera No comments great!
  • Ease of use It has sense, some people love it. I do not. I removed it with a custom rom. good
  • Design and form factor No comments great!
  • Portability (size / weight) I love the aluminum casing, so sexy. I don't like a phone too light, I like a little weight to add an extra grip on my phone. great!
  • Media support No comments good
  • Durability Has a bumper and screen protector. Can't say how well it takes a drop but it seems with normal use, wear and tear is a little quicker than normal. good
  • Ecosystem (apps, accessories, etc.) One of the factors in me buying this phone was that I wanted to have NFC for Google Wallet. It is unsupported at the moment. accessories are limited. good
Detailed review
Note - The rating I gave the phone is how I feel about the phone as stock, not rooted.
I had high expectations when I went to get this phone. After some use, it wasn't all that I thought it would be. New phone, great processor, GB ram, etc. But the processor really drains the battery, GB of ram is half gone due to HTC processes, and it warms up with heavy use. NFC has no use in the phone at the moment. It should be getting an ICS update in the future which might change that. For now I have rooted the phone and put a custom rom and kernel on it and it has turned it into that amazing phone(no pun intended) that I wanted to buy on day one.

TL;DR - Stock Amaze 8/10, Rooted Amaze 9.5/10
