The HP Pavilion g6 is, above all things, totally average. It's definitely not a performance machine, or a sexy piece of art, but if you're just looking for a decent laptop for Web surfing, word processing, and lightweight photo editing, it's a pretty good deal. The only real drawback I see is battery life--HP says you'll get 5.5 hours, but we managed to get only 4 usable hours out of the g6's battery in our testing. quote

The bottom line: HP's unbranded G-series laptops can be reasonable choices for bargain hunters. The latest version gets a design upgrade and keeps the price down, but is stuck with last year's CPU and graphics.

Notebook Check Feb 16, 2012

The 15 inch laptop's biggest advantage, compared to other multimedia devices, is that it's surprisingly quiet and cool. ... HP also deserves praise for the compact power adapter and the low power consumption. Nevertheless, the all-rounder doesn't receive a general purchase recommendation from us.

It doesn't really have any truly standout features beyond the inclusion of LightScribe support for the DVD burner and the availability of some models with a bit more color.

Everything's good in this laptop but the GPU makes a lot of noise and gets heated up real quick. The left click and right click on the touchpad are not so comfortable and i hate hitting em. Everything else is great on this laptop.
