I'v had this computer for about five year and the lid release latch wiggles and the hinges are loose but the performance is solid. I upgraded the ram to 2GB and hard drive to 250GB. great! Design and form factor great! Display great! Durability good Speed and features good Battery life good Noise good Portability (size / weight) so-so Expandability
I have had this laptop for about 8 years, and I still use it on a regular basis. I have Debian 6.0 installed in it, and it runs very well, it's very responsive and I can do most things quickly and effectively. The 3D acceleration is very well supported under Linux. Our DV1000 died after about 3 years, hp support was no help..the screen went all northern lights on us and then completely froze. hard drive was cooked, but then after replacing hard drive, found the motherboard was also bad....
