I know that the ION-LE and the ION are the same chips only that one disables direct 10 because of Windows XP but I would like to enable the full ION to get direct 10 support because I have installed Windows 7 Ultimate. I have heard that after the conversion is made there is a increase and speed and this is a netbook so I need all I can get. I just received the mini 311 in preparation for a trip and I'm taking questions. Please note, since I ordered this before 10/22 it came preloaded with Window XP SP3 and not Windows 7. I'll try to answer any questions to the best of my ability. This is my first netbook, making it my third computer in my current have list.
So I've been wanting to get an ultra-portable for a while. I'd mostly be using it for web browsing, MSFT office, along with some media and gaming, emphasis on the gaming. While I realize that I won't be running Modern Warfare 2 on any of these machines, I'd like to get something as capable as possible in the 11.6" size range. I definitely do want this, don't get me wrong. After trying out the Mini 1000 and returning it within 3 hours of buying it, I cannot tell you how much I hated the side touchpad buttons. But now that they have put the buttons in the traditional bottom location AND use the ION platform, this one definitely has a lot of appeal.
