I fixed the dark webcam problem by removing the filter from the camera, but now I have little dust bunnies behind the plastic screen bezel. Its awful and makes me not want to look at it. Anyone try to replace the bezel or clean behind it?
I know this little dude is old, but its still a great form factor.
Has anyone tried installing a Broadcom Crystal HD BCM70010 / BCM70012 in a HP Mini 1000? I own a 1030NR and I was wondering if it was possible to throw one in this bad boy. If so please post some details.
Anyone have an opinion which is better? Been looking at the Eee PC 1005 HA. HP Mini beats it on some Cnet tests but was wondering if anyone has any real world comparisons. Also, is this the netbook that Verizon gives away if you sign up for Fios? Thanks
Recently bought the 110 model for the sister (who is well meaning, but easily tricked by malicious web sites) and am now wondering what, if any, antivirus and firewall to install. The maxpc folks seem pretty impressed by the svelte 09 version of norton, but I have to think "fast" is a relative term when gearing down from a core 2 duo to an atom. http://www.maximumpc.com/article/features/protect_...
How hard is it to get used to clicking the mouse buttons when they are on the side of the trackpad? I feel like I might have a hard time with that which is what makes me lean towards the Dell Mini 10v.
I see via the "Mac OS X Netbook Compatibility Chart" (pardon the lack of HTML code/link: http://gadgets.boingboing.net/2008/12/17/osx-netbo... that the HP Mini 1000 supports just about everything except for the sound. Does anyone have experience installing it on their HP Mini? And does no sound mean via speakers? Are headphones still usable? Thanks.
Has anyone gotten Moblin running smoothly on the mini? I've booted it a few times, but wireless doesn't work out of the box, and I had some hissing and pops coming from my speakers periodically, so I haven't done a full install yet. It looks really really promising though, the neatest UI I've seen in a long time. Anyone else have better luck?
With the relative cheapness of the 2GB sticks, it almost seems pointless NOT to upgrade. I have read around however and many people suggest that it makes no difference because of the Atom's limitations. Has anyone upgraded their Mini? Any noticeable difference? Worth the $20?
So I was wondering, what software have you downloaded to tweak your Mini 1000? I've been juggling all sorts of programs since I got mine a month ago. I like Object Dock. I've also been using iEx and Fences. [You might be surprised to know that I also own a 15" Macbook Pro, but I wanted something a little smaller to take to class.] But then I started wondering if they were slowing my computer down... I've also juggled browsers - Firefox, Chrome, and Safari. I'm trying to find...
Just thought it would be interesting to see what Os everyone is running on their Mini. One of the eighty million distros of Linux, Win 7, XP, Vista or OS X? I've got the Windows 7 RC loaded right now and it's running fantastic. I might install the final product, although considering the OS costs almost as much as the computer itself, I might just end up switching back to UNR.
