Conclusion: We're mixed

HP's Envy Sleekbook line is meant to be a low-cost alternative to Ultrabooks, and the $599 Sleekbook 6 largely delivers on that promise. It's thin, light, good-looking — and underpowered compared to more-expensive Ultrabooks. If your needs are modest (i.e., web browsing, light productivity applications, media playback, and some games), and you want to save a few hundred dollars, it's a decent computer. But if you want true Ultrabook performance, you should skip it and be prepared to spend a little more.

The performance and power efficiency of the HP Envy Sleekbook 6z is a bit lower than where we would like to see it. However, we can cut some slack for the low price, great design, and the fact that it comes with Beats Audio.

Although it does not perform up to par with an Ultrabook, it is powerful enough for everyday tasks like surfing the web and playing HD videos and features above average audio and long battery life. Priced at $599, the HP Envy...

It’s not meant to be a high-end model, and that shows. But when money is a major deciding factor the Envy 6 succeeds in filling that near-£600 gap in the market.

Overall, despite the obvious performance anxiety that this machine suffers from, the HP Envy Sleekbook 6-1126sa is a system that anyone looking to buy a budget laptop should look at.

The HP Envy Sleekbook is difficult to recommend due to the keyboard being abysmal, cheap feel, and mediocre display (1366x768 resolution on a 15.6' screen). On the upside the HP Envy Sleekbook 6z is affordable and sports a thin, light, and great-looking design. The speakers are decent and it is...
