Conclusion: Pass on it

Hidden Radio may be one of the best-looking portable Bluetooth speakers around, and its twist-open design is certainly striking. But the speaker's sound quality doesn't live up to its $150 price. As Wired says, "a $150 speaker should sound great, and this one does not." Wired also found fault with the speaker's usability, saying that "pairing is harder than a Times Sunday crossword" and the built-in FM radio "is a joke." PC Mag also found the sound quality disappointing, calling Hidden Radio a "cleverly designed portable Bluetooth speaker that looks great—it just doesn't sound great."

It's a brilliant design, no question. And it was a big hit on Kickstarter last year. Unfortunately, the sound is downright poor.

It’s too bad HiddenRadio suffers a bit in the audio department — it’s really a very clever and convenient design.
