- Sound quality Great sound quality. Bass is punchy when it needs to be and the sound is silky all over.
- Design and form factor I like the old school look.
- Comfort Very comfortable for extended sessions.
- Noise isolation Almost no sound isolation. These are open air headphones.
- Durability Good materials and a very heavy duty cord. Definitely the thickest cord I have ever seen on headphones. It rivals my guitar cord.
Detailed review
On the repeated recommendation of Patrick Norton over the years and several other reviews, I decided get the Grado SR60i headphones. Actually I got these as a gift recently and I have been quite taken with them. Everything about these headphones from the packaging to the heavy duty cord indicate quality. Excellent build quality aside these are great sounding headphones. Everyone who has tried them has become insanely jealous and started looking into buying them.
I listen mostly to rock, podcasts, and video games. I have found these to be excellent at both. Voices sound clear and smooth, while music has good range. These headphones have quality bass without being too thumpy. In my experience I haven't had anyone complain about these leaking sound despite being open air. Sometimes the open air design can be detrimental in a noisy environment.
I have yet to overdrive these headphones with a computer or an iPod. In fact one of my only complaints is that it can take quite a bit of juice to drive these. I am going to need to look into getting a headphone amp I think to help out.
All in all an excellent value, you can't go wrong with these.
