The keynote is still happening but so far Google has shown off some new stuff for their services. I'll keep updating this as they come out but feel free to share your thoughts.
Synced notifications: now when you dismiss a notification on your phone it will dismiss on your tablet
Unlocked Galaxy S4 developer edition: It's the Galaxy S4 but without TouchWiz and running pure Android
Google Games: offers a way to keep saved games between devices as well as compete against friends
http://media.gdgt.com/img/products/480/aago/aago-460.jpg If you've been following the news on Google Glass, or saw the crazy demo that Sergey Brin used at Google I/O to show of Glass then I'm sure you're aware of its capabilities. However, we haven't seen just how they fit into our lives until now. http://media.gdgt.com/img/products/480/aagn/aagn-460.jpg Google released a new video today to show off what it's like to wear Google Glass as part of your daily life. As Google has been doing with recent...

As the year comes to an end and CES is just around the corner, it means that the next wave of consumer electronics are about to shown to the world. In 2012 we saw a lot of improvements in different areas of tech as well some re-inventions of existing products. With 2013 upon us, let’s look ahead at what may be coming our way over the next few months and even months away. Disclaimer: These are just my personal opinions based on what I’m reading and seeing happen right now. * We’re already...

This is just a post to let you all know that Google, Apple, and RIM are all giving away some great content to match the new devices you may be getting this holiday. You can of course get the content through either your device or PC for Android or iOS (in case of a future device) or only on-device for BlackBerry OS 7.1 Google Play- offering daily freebies. A few have passed already, but it is still early in the game. Today has an 811 page eBook about bar-tending with video tutorials! Book, ark it...

Unlike 4.0 and 4.1, 4.2 to me is a total disappointment. Almost all the new features had the right intentions but missed the mark and execution of that intent. Issues:
My Galaxy Nexus is no longer buttery smooth like in 4.1. In fact, it's gotten pretty sluggish and animations here and there are choppy and slow.
The notification bar shortcuts are a great idea but completely failed in execution. WHY IS THERE STILL NO AUTO-ROTATE ON/OFF SHORTCUT? It's ridiculous that I still have to go deep into the ...
A report from the Wall Street Journal (http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=ca... is stating that Dish has been talking with different companies about starting a wireless service on the spectrum they own. Interestingly enough one of those companies happens to be Google. If you recall, Google at one point had wanted to provide a $9.99 subsidized data plan through T-Mobile back in 2006...

Looks like bad weather isn't stopping Google http://media.gdgt.com/img/products/473/a5nt/a5nt-460.jpg Nexus 4: 8GB for $299; 16GB for $349; available unlocked and without a contract on 11/13 on the Google Play store in U.S., U.K., Australia, France, Germany, Spain and Canada. The 16GB version will also be available through T-Mobile for $199, with a 2-year contract (check here for more details). I did not expect the Nexus 4 to be released off contract at such a price. $299/$350 is usually a price...

http://f.cl.ly/items/3A2A210O3z0u113a1o44/google_large.png The Galaxy Nexus Google+ page (https://plus.google.com/113238550815846424978/pos... has confirmed that there will be multiple Nexus devices announced at the October 29th event. What are you expecting (or hoping) they will announce? It feels like new rumors have been popping up almost daily. The early rumors were that as many as five manufacturers would release Nexus devices this year. LG may get its first chance at a Nexus...

In the recent months there has been tons of speculation over who will manufacture the next Nexus device for Google. Rumours have been abound for many manufacturers, most recently LG, but others pertaining to HTC, Sony, Samsung, and even Motorola. Here is a brief rumour roundup with mockup photos of each LG Optimus G Nexus could be seen in November. (http://mobilesyrup.com/2012/10/04/lg-optimus-g-ne... Spec-wise similar to the...

So with rumors swirling about Apple starting up it's own Pandora/Spotify competitor, I got to thinking. "Hey.... how can Google compete with something like that? They currently don't have any partnerships anywhere near the level that Apple does and frankly... Google Music could use some exposure". I'm not a professional, but I am a consumer and as such I sometimes think about "matches made in heaven" between tech companies and so far, I'm liking Google and MOG. They're both underdogs with GREAT...

I for one am liking the direction they are heading in. The first "promise" that has significant meaning to me is one of battery performance. The Droid RAZR MAXX arguably pioneered the high capacity smartphone segment, and it seems Motorola has deemed it worthy to continue this focus. As a heavy BlackBerry user, battery life has always been a priority of mine, and while I have considered the large extended batteries for Android phones I have owned, it just didn't seem right. Vendors like Mugen...

In the UK at the moment the 64GB blackberry playbook is available for £129, (and for me £116) the Nexus 7 is £159 or £199 for the 8GB and 16GB versions respectively. (and for me the 16GB is £179) Which to buy? Hardware numbers wise the Nexus seems a little better however stereo speakers, the rear camera, and the 64GB on the Playbook seen like a bonus, however I use the cloud for a lot of storage and stream media. OTOH the Nexus is android, therefore full access to the play store and all the...

Motorola makes flashy consumer products. Being an owner of the original Razor I felt burned when my gorgeous phone broken in less than six months sustaining a drop than any number of my Nokia or Sony Ericsson phones easily survived previously. Before that I had a previous Motorola flip phone in which I had to jiggle the power cord every single time I charged it because the charging port was faulty. Since the Razor experience I have personally vowed never to buy another Motorola phone because...

There's a rash of Google vs Amazon and Apple vs Samsung stories on the net lately, and while fun spirited reads creatively done, they all ignore some basic facts: 1) Google isn't a hardware company. They make their money off of search and ads and their ecosystem. Sure, they can play around and make a few handsets or tablets through awesome partners (like Asus. Same company that makes Apple's motherboards). 2) Amazon is restricting access to the Play Store on their reskinned Gingerbread devices,...

Honeycomb was a rushed mess. Gingerbread was good but not good enough and Ice Cream Sandwhich still lacks adoption and tablet specific apps (enough GOOD ones anyway). My friends... if I'm honest I would concede that iOS is the better platform (not with hardware though). When my iOS toting friends... and my wife.... would brandish their fruity embossed device I'd long a little inside for a device that worked as well and was as widely supported by developers... but I was faithful to the "open and...

Google I/O, the company's annual developer conference (think Apple's WWDC, but for Google) starts tomorrow in San Francisco and has the possibility to be a pretty big deal. Last year at I/O, the big unveiling was Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) and Google Music. Now the big question is, what's going to happen this year? Well, according to current rumors, we may see:
Android 4.1 (or 5.0) Jelly Bean?
Nexus tablet?
Google business-focused cloud service?
Project Glass?
Jelly Bean seems like a pretty good...

So I was all heartbroken because I got a new monitor for my Mac, and I had to buy all new software. I needed new versions of Photoshop and MS Office and Protools and Logic Pro. God, it set me back 5,000 dollars. But yanno, it's worth it because the Mac is better. Would you put up with that? Why do you put up with it on your tablet? What a lot of people don't understand about iOS is forcing apps to scale to certain resolutions is just lazy coding. That's why those of us that own Android tablets...

I live in the Seychelles. Every time I go onto https://play.google.com/store/devices/details?id=n... I get told this device is unavailable to my country. Short of taking a plane halfway around the world (16+hrs) I don't ever see myself owning this device.
I know for some phones (such as my beloved BlackBerry 9780), the 3.5mm headphone jack is shaped in such a way that does not allow the Beats by Dre headphone port to fully connect into it...I'm wondering if my headphones will work with this phone or not, basically.
This just happened this evening. I went to log onto Facebook, and it came up saying the SSL is not valid or expired. But this goes for all the SSL sites I tried to go to. And I'm using Google Chrome. Could anyone please help me? Thanks.
Currently every single major smart phone is a black slab with a large touch screen. When will a company change that form factor and introduce or reintroduce a different form factor? Will we see smart phones with flip screens, similar to the original RAZR, or something new that is not a black slab?
I'm about to — today — purchase a Nexus 7. I read somewhere that there was an HDMI-out port, but I can't see it. I suppose it could be the Micro-USB port, but I can't find any adapters. Do such things exist? Do they work? Can you recommend one?
I have been trying to set up Gmail in MacOS X Lion (latest version) through the Settings App, but it gives some IMAP error and refuses to set up, same story with Sparrow. Its working just fine on my iOS devices.
I've saved up enough for a galaxy nexus which is what I want because I want an unlocked phone running stock Android 4.0 that gets regular updates. My current phone is a Nexus One and that's what I love about that phone. Then I realised that the version of the Galaxy Nexus that is available online is the 16GB version. I wanted the 32GB version. That's the only way I could stand the Galaxy Nexus not having a micro sd card slot. So I'd be willing to forgo getting the Nexus for a phone in the same...

I got this a few weeks ago...it said my account had been accessed from France. It suggested if I wasn't in France I should change my password. I did. Today I got a notice saying it had been accessed from Japan. Changed my password again but for some reason I feel like this is some error. Just wondering if anyone else ever gets this but doesn't buy into it?
I've listened to several podcasts and read several articles about OS X Mountain Lion since it was announced earlier this week and I can't help but feel annoyed at how the tech pundits give so much praise to the fact that iMessage is now running on a desktop. For example, The Verge states that, "WHEN IMESSAGE WORKS, IT DEFINITELY FEELS LIKE THE FUTURE." and Cult of Mac states that iMessage will, "...free our cellphones from the slavery of wireless carrier texting plans." To me, iMessage isn't very...

I'm interested to see what the overall feeling is in 2012 in regards to this. I have been a simultaneous Android and Blackberry/WP7 user over the years and I always prided myself in my Android loyalty and scoffed at those who claimed the open-ness of Google's OS hampered the overall user experience. Last month I received my first iPhone and I think I'm starting to pull a 180. I believe at this point, especially after experiencing iOS firsthand, Google should really consider pulling in the reigns...

I wanted to buy myself an iPhone, but then I saw the advert. of Samsung Galaxy Nexus on the tv and I started wondering wich phone is better? I know they are hardly comparable because of the different OS they are using. But wich of the phones would you prefer to have or already have?
