Deploying multiple Android devices in business - I need to control what is installed and also data usage.
details
I need your Google Android help. I need to deploy 12 Galaxy Note 2's for use by wardrobe fitters. I need to lock them down so that only I control what apps are installed and also remote locate and wipe etc. Email etc. will be via exchange so if there is a way to set up phones without separate Google accounts that would be ideal. Also can anyone recommend an inexpensive app to take signatures on site too? As an iPhone user and Apple geek I know how to do all this with iOS but Android is foreign...

The future of "Nexus" devices?
details
Today, at Google I/O, the company announced a Galaxy S4, free of any skinning - basically, a Nexus device, if you define Nexus as pure, unadulterated Android with on-time updates. The thing is, they didn't give the phone a name. It isn't the Nexus 5 or the Galaxy Nexus 4, it's just another Galaxy S4.
Given that the Nexus project hasn't been a huge success in the past, is this Google's new strategy? Give people a flagship phone they know but with Google's own experience on it? And what happened... Read more →

Google I/O 2013 Keynote shows off new software and features
details
The keynote is still happening but so far Google has shown off some new stuff for their services. I'll keep updating this as they come out but feel free to share your thoughts.
  • Synced notifications: now when you dismiss a notification on your phone it will dismiss on your tablet
  • Unlocked Galaxy S4 developer edition: It's the Galaxy S4 but without TouchWiz and running pure Android
  • Google Games: offers a way to keep saved games between devices as well as compete against friends
  • Play Music All Access:...

Got a Pebble and an HTC One? I found out why the One unlocks with just a tap.
details
I was getting really annoyed recently with the One's lockscreen because it stopped requiring me swipe when unlocking the phone. Instead, it would unlock when I tap anywhere on the lock screen. This can become problematic when you're controlling the music player from the lockscreen since the phone will unlock once you press any of the buttons.
Apparently, the reason why it does that is because a service in the Accessibility menu is on which would include Tasker, Pebble, Pebble Notifier, etc.... Read more →

Connecting Jawbone UP to your Devices?
details
So I just bought a Jawbone UP. I tried to connect it to my HTC One X, but it wouldn't connect on Android 4.1. I thought there was something wrong with the UP, but it worked just fine when connected on my iPad 4.

Anyone else have experience with connecting the UP band to other Android devices? How has your experience been?

Android 4.2 Is Dissapointing (on the Galaxy Nexus)
details
Unlike 4.0 and 4.1, 4.2 to me is a total disappointment. Almost all the new features had the right intentions but missed the mark and execution of that intent.
Issues:
  1. My Galaxy Nexus is no longer buttery smooth like in 4.1. In fact, it's gotten pretty sluggish and animations here and there are choppy and slow.
  2. The notification bar shortcuts are a great idea but completely failed in execution.
WHY IS THERE STILL NO AUTO-ROTATE ON/OFF SHORTCUT? It's ridiculous that I still have to go deep into the

Why do the hardware specs matter?
details
I have read a lot of reviews and discussions where they are comparing the specs of a device against another. There have been lots of comparisons of late of the iPad, Surface tablet and Nexus 7. Does it really matter what their hardware is when you are comparing devices designed for different operating systems?
The iPad 3rd gen has a dual core processor and only 512 GB of ram and the New surface tablet has a quad core processor with 2 GB of ram and they are both are comparably fast and responsive... Read more →

The Galaxy Nexus Google+ page (https://plus.google.com/113238550815846424978/pos... has confirmed that there will be multiple Nexus devices announced at the October 29th event. What are you expecting (or hoping) they will announce?
It feels like new rumors have been popping up almost daily. The early rumors were that as many as five manufacturers would release Nexus devices this year. LG may get its first chance at a Nexus... Read more →

Longer battery life on Jelly Bean for Verizon Galaxy Nexus
details
Anyone else seeing a noticeable increase in battery life on their Verizon Galaxy Nexus after the Jelly Bean update? I have been getting around 2-3 more hours on a medium use day and even more than that on a day when I use the phone less.
I was having some issues where the screen would become unresponsive and refuse to wake, but that was because I had to re-authorize Light Flow in the Accessibility settings. Besides that, I've had not problems. Anyone noticing better performance or any issues...

Any followers of jokersax.com Cyanogenmod versions for the Motorola Atrix 4g, knows his site is indefinetlty 404. After doing some serious searching around the web I found another fantastic rom thanks to Emerson Pinter for cm10 jellybean.

As is any unofficial cm10 rom , it has a few missing settings options , but who cares.
its android 4.1.0 for the dated atrix 4g ( the original duel core superphone )
please try it out ,... Read more →

In the recent months there has been tons of speculation over who will manufacture the next Nexus device for Google. Rumours have been abound for many manufacturers, most recently LG, but others pertaining to HTC, Sony, Samsung, and even Motorola.

Nexus 7 demand?
details
Wow - I missed the 14 day window to return my Nexus 7, and now I can't find anyone interested enough to buy it (I've posted to Craigslist and Facebook). No interest at all at $150 for something essentially still in the box. Is it the appeal of the Kindle Fire, awaiting the arrival of an iPad Mini, or just a general lack of interest?

BB playbook, or Nexus 7?
details
In the UK at the moment the 64GB blackberry playbook is available for £129, (and for me £116) the Nexus 7 is £159 or £199 for the 8GB and 16GB versions respectively. (and for me the 16GB is £179)
Which to buy?
Hardware numbers wise the Nexus seems a little better however stereo speakers, the rear camera, and the 64GB on the Playbook seen like a bonus, however I use the cloud for a lot of storage and stream media.
OTOH the Nexus is android, therefore full access to the play store and all the... Read more →
