The WSJ has gotten some information that Google may be announcing it's plan to announce 5 unlocked Nexus devices at the upcoming Google I/O event. There is no word yet on who will be making the phones but the report states they're planning to partner with a variety of OEMs to make this happen. Oh and the cherry on top, they'll be rocking the latest version of Android which at I/O will be Jelly Bean. Yesterday it was reported[1] ICS was on 2.9% of all Android devices with Gingerbread still being the main OS on Android devices at 63.7%. It's already hit the S II and the Sensation with the Razr, Rezound and Note coming up very soon. With the source being out since November how do you feel manufactures are doing with getting the latest OS version out to their devices?
Look, I totally get changing the name away from "Android Market", since it looks like Google would like to have a common marketplace across different platforms, but I don't see the logic in renaming it "Google Play". "Play" doesn't connote a place to go and buy stuff, and while I could see it making some sense for a marketplace for music, movies, and games, it certainly isn't the right word to describe one that encompasses apps and books as well. The US Copyright Office in 2010, stated Jailbreaking iOS devices is legal. Now this exemption is running out. I would like to hear what you think about rooting or jailbreaking. I'm doing some research of my own and want any information, whether you oppose Jailbreaking/Rooting or you're in favor, I want to know. If you're like me, you've probably been annoyed that Facebook's Android app is always running in the background, even when you've disabled notifications. How to fix this? In the settings screen, re-checked Notifications so the "Refresh interval" option becomes available and then change that to "Never". Then disable Notifications again. Force quit the app and it should never be running again. I have only tested this on stock Ice Cream Sandwich, but I don't see any reason why this shouldn't work on...

Ive had every iPhone that has been released, but I'm finding myself bored with the design of the OS. I'm curious about other smartphones available on AT&T. I really do like what windows phone offers but it's missing some important apps for me. Android seems nice but I'm turned off by how it has a similar feel to iOS. I'm interested in hear some views from people with android and windows phone. I'm currently a Mac user, own a Xbox and apple tv; if that helps at all.
