What would you rather have: A longer zoom or wider aperture?

I ask this because I've noticed that it's become a trend on the F-series to have f/3.3 as their widest aperture (it's even shrunken to f/3.5 on the F300EXR). Fujifilm seems to sacrifice a wide aperture for some pretty insane optical zooms. While I admit that I have captured some pretty wild cloud/sunset shots thanks to the 10x zoom on my F72EXR, I actually really miss having the wide f/2.8 aperture compliment the natural light mode from my trusty old F10. 3D pictures from a camera -- is this cool or another gimmick?

Hah, yes - I know, I know. I'm sounding like an angry old man lately, but *3D* photos? You can't even properly view them unless you're wearing funny glasses! Okay, to be fair, the camera features some stereoscopic algorithm, so it flips between the images really quickly to show pseudo 3D. But on your computer, flickr, Facebook? Is the Fuji 3d camera worthy?

I'm going to add at least one new cam to my collection in the very near future. Looking for something different. I could get a Hero HD for my surfing, biking and general superwide goodness. The new Casio "high-speed" Exilim EX-FH100 has also caught my eye. Then, there's the 3D cam from Fuji! The 3D is $600. I could buy both of the other cams for this much. That's also a lot to spend for photos which seem hard to display and a camera that may not have a future. What to do?...

So I'm not like, a huge photography buff or anything, But I'm really wanting to get more into it because I always see things that would make cool pictures & frankly I just would like a camera to have.... Would this camera be a decent start out for fairly cheap because I don't want to make the first camera I buy a £500 odd DSLR super machine. If anyone can help Thanks.

im looking at this camera to use when i go out to clubs and just generally out and about. I do do watersports aswell so the waterproof functionality will be used. I just wanted to hear peoples thoughts about it and how well the flash works. thanks jack

Fuji made a lot of effort to make it like a SLR except for the fixed lens. I already have a Canon Powershot S3IS which is a pretty capable superzoom. I wish to upgrade higher, naturally. I have always liked Fuji cameras - so the question is - is it worth the upgrade ? Or should I jump into DSLR waters ? Considering I would have to buy atleast a bridge lens sort of 18-200 mm to get an everyday flexibility

I recently lost the proprietary dock for my f10, and have thus been unable to charge the battery. The Fuji site doesn't sell replacements anymore - or at least none I could see. Anyone know where to get one.

Fuji FinePix F550EXR: Looks like it has 'dynamic range bracketing' up to 400% + AEB +/-1EV.

Ticked off! I ordered mine through HSN, it arrived today. I took a few pictures and right from the get-go, when reviewing pics, each one had their 'waiting' icon on the screen (series of revolving boxes) and I was unable to delete any pictures. Then, while the zoom lens was out(!) - the camera just died! Put in another set of brand-new batteries - nothing. Now, unless I can figure out what's wrong, I have to ship it back and HSN is sold out. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!!!!
