This is totally anecdotal, but my pair of hf2s just survived a run through the washer/dryer with no apparent ill effects.
I doubt that I'd be able to say the same for most of my other monitors, but I'm not about to try it.

My original hf2 quite suddenly lost most frequency response in the right bud and some in the left. With some stereo mixes (I think it was Neil Diamond!
) the vocal was completely absent. Amazon refunded immediately; I'd changed my delivery address so they couldn't replace them. I ordered a new pair from Amazon (saving 10%!). The new hf2 are updated, the jack plug is almost 90 degree angled (not quite). I didn't get to compare the two pairs side-by-side but I'd suggest the cables are more robust in the new pair.

Great phones, but doesn't work with Monster headphone splitter
I think this is probably Monster's issue rather than Ety's, but you should know that these guys don't play nice with the Monster headphone splitter. Is this a common problem with all headset-style headphones, or just the Ety?
