I am a big fan of this device as a backup drive where you can dump lots of data and easily retrieve it. But if you want something that is fast and will be used for lots of reads and write, look for another solution. I currently have 2x1.5TB WD Green and 2x1TB WD Green drives in it and I typically see 10-15MB writes and 20-25 reads. Obviously the drives inside can handle much more but the drobo is really holding them back.

I am still very happy with it because since I got it I have added and replaces drives many times, each time everything when perfectly. With real raid I would not have been able to do that.
