The Hopper (and its remote units, known as "Joeys") may be the best whole-home DVR yet. It's easy to set up, provides seamless viewing in every room (well, in up to 4 rooms, since it supports up to 3 Joeys), and can store up to 500 hours of HD programming. And if you're into the whole prime-time network TV thing, it can automatically record all prime-time programming on every broadcast network, every day, no setup required. Of course, the Hopper only works with Dish, so if you have another satellite or cable provider, you'll have to get by with other options. But we hope the clever innovations included in the Hopper find their way to other providers, and to provider-neutral systems like TiVo.
